for the soon to be vacant wbo title fight will be in new zealand https://www.boxing247.com/boxing-news/arum-joseph-parker-andy/63049
If it's January, I wonder if they will put another fight in front of Parker leading up to Ruiz? If nothing was made with Ruiz, Dean from Duco said they have someone lined up if they had to wait until March for AJ. "We have a 6ft 6" guy lined up, who happens to be exactly the same size as AJ and Wlad... We will fight him in December as preparation" Who is 6ft 6 in the top 50? Hughie Fury 6ft 6 Gerald Washington 6ft 6 Robert Helenius 6ft 6 1/2
The bobfather said today Parker is strong but slow.. I get the feeling Arums never watched a Parker fight.
Parker has hardly been ducking anyone. Don't twist it that AJ is fighting Wlad because Parker is dodging. Team Parker were all keen then when the Fury thing came up Hearn turned his sights to Wlad and started calling him favourite so it would be silly not to jump on something which is likely more winnable and will be a better split in the meantime. A unification fight later would be all the meeting valuable
Just because Parker will likely be fighting for the WBO title doesn't mean we won't get Parker/Joshua next year. It just means it would be a unification fight and even bigger than before. Makes sense for Parker to try and do something to bring more leverage to the table and winning the WBO title would do that. No point just sitting on the side lines and waiting for a payday like some no name contender, Parker is better than that. Personally how things have played out are perfect for me. I always thought Parker needed more time to iron out his flaws and they needed to build the fight more to the casuals. Parker winning his own title, Joshua beating Wlad would make this long anticipated fight between two rising stars even more exciting.
