Bob looks that had feed him good and suitable fights. Even this Machine, I'm sure not top 5, maybe top 6-15 material, not well known from too small ( this is very bad for pro boxing career ) country. If Crawford had fought vs Spence Jr and damn, if also vs Pacman, he had been very big draw. He is unique talent but he is also proven more as very big talker there, including how bad is uncle bob.
Eddie maybe might feed very good fights, however he is c o cky with clauses and this might be reason why Okolie might get ring rusty coming out of defeat beltless Glowacki and not that easy Makabu or Briedis. Eddie maybe sometimes thinks that his boxer's opponents are cheap total 0 with empty pockets. So yeah, some struggle with eddie if opponents respects their career might happen. While I think he advertises boxers enough well.
Crawford has to fight someone like Ugas or Porter now.. Or someone near their level.. There's absolute no excuse for his usual mismatches.. If he doesn't then him and his team are still not confident this weight bully is ready to fight a legit opponent his own size Spence is doing no better fighting a 42 yo 2 years out of the ring.. Pathetic.. Who the hell event wants Crawford vs Spence when neither have actually proven themselves
It's a bit rich from Arum. Bud has not got a single name from the current Ring 147 Top 10 on his resume. NOT ONE! Surely to hell the promoter has to shoulder most of the blame for that? How is Bud gonna make you money if you can't get him the top names?
Who? Kovalev? Did he move to fight Jacobs? I think Jacobs is the last guy that actually might have had a real chance to beat Canelo. He fought GGG the second time. Always a risk. For my money he only ever fought 2 guys that might have been favored to beat him and he's 0 - 2 - 1 with them. So maybe it's no surprise he's risk averse.
Crawford desperately needs a change of scenery to prove himself. He really must have a decent fight next up, otherwise the farce of him being a top p4p guy continues.
He beat 2 undefeated World Title holders in the last 6 months. This in a weight division above the weight division he beat Golovkin at, which was the division above where he had been fighting for most of his career. I find it amazing how people try and rationalize everything that he accomplishes to make it seem like it wasn't that impressive. If you would have said before he beat GGG, that he would move up to MW, beat GGG then move up another weight division beat two undefeated title holders and do it in dominating (Smith) or brutal (Saunders) fashion you would have been laughed at for saying that at the time. If before he fought GGG, if you would have said that he would do all that, and in between beating GGG and dominating / brutalizing two undefeated SMWs he would go up to LHW and brutally KO Krusher Kovalev you would have been laughed out of the building. Literally no one in a million years would EVER have believed that Canelo was capable of doing any of these things. The ease at which he dominated Callum Smith, no one would have said that would have been possible. Most people would pick Smith to beat him, there's weight classes for a reason remember. Kovalev, there's really weight classes for a reason. Saunders was all wrong for Canelo, how many people on this forum for years pretty much guaranteed Saunders would school Canelo. GGG fans said GGG would DESTROY Canelo lol. What Canelo did to Daniel Jacobs, no one thought Canelo would go out there and school him like that. I know people like to point to how close the scorecards were, but for the first 7 or 8 rounds, Canelo was cruising with ease against Jacobs. It was a master class. Jacobs had a mini-comeback towards the end, but Canelo was playing with Jacobs like no one expected. People came away surprised at how well he dispatched Jacobs. The ease at which Canelo has rolled over undefeated fighters, feared punchers, highly skilled fighters at higher weights since he beat GGG was not predicted or expected by anybody. And I think rather than try to scoff at all his achievements and act like they aren't that impressive, we need to take our hat off to Canelo for doing things that you didn't think he would ever do. And it's not just the quality of the opposition, it's the manner at which he has won these fights, this is why he's the clear #1 P4P. And you know I would remind you that I had Canelo #1 P4P many many years ago, even before he beat GGG. And people would call me a fanboy or whatever they would say, but no one's laughing now. I obviously have been proven right in how high I rated Canelo way back before he's now seen as the best in the sport. So obviously I know what the hell I was talking about, but I must say, even I never expected him to be AS dominant and impressive as he has been. For him to move up in weight and be this close to undisputed at SMW, he continues to impressive and go above and beyond what is expected, not just in resume or who he beats, but in the manner at which he wins these fights. No one works harder in the gym as Canelo, no one has the work ethic of this man to not only be the best but to stay at the top for as long as possible. But in reality that's really 1 - 1 - 1 and the one draw could have easily been a win and really should have been. If you're honest, it was only the GGG hype that got GGG that draw. Canelo showed a mastery of the ring that night, he did gas a little in the middle rounds but he fought like a true champion, and really to your point you're trying to paint a picture that he's risk averse because in your mind, every time he's stepped up he failed to perform which is actual BS. It's hard to find fault in his performances vs Trout, Mayweather or Lara. That was years ago, now he fell short of winning vs Mayweather but sitll performed well enough all things considered while drained. And Trout and Lara were competitive, as you would expect them to be. You can't expect a younger, pre-prime version of him to have dominated fighters as good as Trout or Lara. Winning close controversial decisons vs fighters that good is nothing to hold against him. He knocked down Trout and caused Lara to get on is bike for most of that match. You saw signs of the fighter that he turned into today even as far back as then. Vs GGG even if you think he lost the first fight and only got a draw in the rematch, that's a matter of how you scored a couple of close rounds that could go either way. But again it's hard to find fault with going wire to wire with GGG for 24 rounds when years before he fought GGG when the match was first talked about most people on this forum didn't think he had any chance vs GGG, they thought GGG was far better than Canelo which obviously turned out to not be the case.
During the time that Bud has faced Benavidez (not the SMW one ), Khan, Kavaliu-whatever and Brook, Canelo has faced GGG, Jacobs, Kovalev, Smith and Saunders. Rehydration clauses, short notices etc doesn't change the fact that there are levels between these comps.
