i know that you hate catchweights and some people too, but are you in favor of too much weight difference come fight nights? or just for this fight only?

147 is the absolute highest weight Pac can go and the lowest that Oscar can go down to. It was an agreement that both fighters agreed to.

After the Cotto fight, Manny is no longer treated as a smaller dude. It is fair that he be treated and he should look at himself as a full welterweight.

Cause Oscar was coming down from 150 to 147. Also, he was bringing a whole shitload of money to that fight.

Cotto was a WW who came down from 147 to 145. Before Pac fought Cotto, he had weighed-in at 138 in his last fight and was still considered a small Jr Welterweight. Not the case anymore.

Clottey is allowed to fight at 147 because maybe Pac is starting to grow into the new weight a little more.

What do you mean 'not allowed to'?

Cotto chose to agree to weigh in at 145lbs.

The weight limit is a maximum, but fighters can chose to weigh less if they wish.

Nah. I'm kind of shocked Manny didn't want a catchweight. Clottey is a "big" welterweight. Floyd made a complete jackass of himself against Marquez, especially when he was like u guys should be thanking me on my performance after the fight. Floyd came in as a lite middleweight when the fight was suppose to be at 144. I was surprised how big he looked against Marquez. Floyd should be ashamed of himself.

he took that because that looked to be the final offer of negotiations.... which started at cotto having to weight 142 or 43 for gods sakes.

Through negotiations, they came to 145 as being the weight, it should go without saying that cotto and team wanted the fight at 147 (the same weight the clottey and hoya fights were at).... so ya, in THAT FIGHT, he was NOT ALLOWED to weigh 147lbs.

So thats what i mean when i say 'not allowed to'.... the clottey fight is made in one week with no talk of catchweight, meanwhile cotto had to negotiate his way to 145.

but to address your post, Cotto was not allowed to weigh over 145lbs for the Pac fight, so thats what i mean when i say 'he was not allowed to' lol :good

but as others have pointed it out, it probably has to do with Pac and team feeling comfortable at welter now.

Of course not. You think Arum is going to go out of his way to make this fight and once again attempt to boost Clottey's market value with a high profile signature win and not see to it that the deck is at least somehow stacked in Clottey's favor? He'll probably talk these morons over at Team Pacquiao into having a 16' ring.

A bit of juice, no problem for Paq. No doubt he'll weight in at 190 through 'hard work and determination'.
