Oh? Is Pac letting his opponent come in at or above 154? Funny that Arum didn't mention the weight. Moreover, if Arum said it then it's probably not true so there really isn't any point in debating you uber Pac fans about this.

The winner gets offers for Manny and Alvarez. GBP throws everything into an Alvarez offer, 50/50 split most likely, no catchweight necessary. This would be an especially big event if it was Cotto, and they could just make it a big event if it was Alvarez.

If they can get Alvarez the title, they stick it to HBO (GGG never gets a shot unless he comes over...) and to Bob. This sets up an epic 50-0 fight for Mayweather, when he heroically rises to a catchweight of 154.1lb to claim the lineal throne from Alvarez in a rematch that smashes all attendance, gate, and PPV records.

In so doing they avoid the Pacquiao fight and freeze Bob and Manny out of title contention at 147, 154, and 160. If they decide to work together then they can make some money giving Pacquiao a shot at Alvarez.

I think we'll see Alvarez get the winner of Cotto vs. Martinez.

So if Cotto wins, Roach has to train both Cotto and Pacquiao to beat each other? Ya Stupid Idiot!!

If it's for the middleweight championship, Pacquiao will bring his opponent to 155lbs which both Martinez and Cotto can easily make without it being strenuous at all - that is a key point.
All three are past their prime as well, so it wont be the case of Pacquaio picking on past prime opponents, especially when he's extremely small against them.

If Pacquiao beats the winner, he'd shoot up so high in the ATG rankings.

If this happens, who is greater:

    W Martinez - middleweight
    W Cotto
    W Hatton
    W Margarito
    W Marquez x2
    W Morales
W Barrera x2 - including an 03' version which Manny dominated
    W Bradley x2
    W Sasakul
    W Lehwaba
    W Clottey
L Marquezx2 - but has respected prime even fights against him too.
L two irrelevant opponents at the start of his career as a weight drained weasel.
    9 weight division champion.

    Mayweather:
    W Canelo
    W Cotto
    W Hatton
    W Castillo
    W Corrales
    W Judah
    W Genaro
    W Marquez - a fat version, a small version
    D Maidana
    L Castillo

Wouldn't think this fight would happen. Since pac would want a catch weight and I don't think they'll agree to it.

Technically speaking, cslb is correct. Weight classes have a ceiling, not a floor. It's a weight limit, not a weight range. So the scenario clsb described in which Pac fights for the middleweight title at a catchweight of 152 pounds is legal and allowable if Cotto/Martinez agrees to put up the belt. That what what made LaLonde/Leonard possible.

While the sanctioning bodies don't have a floor to fight for a title, many state athletic commissions do have rules about a maximum weight difference and a couple have their own division ranges. So while Pacquiao could fight, say, Klitschko for the heavyweight title and have it sanctioned by the WBC, most states would ban it.

I don't want to see Sergio fight at JMW; a division he left 5 years ago and has yet to return.

Would be awfully ballsy of a WW to fight the MW king...
