Once again Al Haymon has set the precedence for Promoters to move their fighters around to different networks ( The first was really Don King and Tyson). Like Mayweather and Haymon, Bob Arum wants to jump ship and with his 2 E.E. fighters who he feels are being ignored at HBO. HBO is fixated on Golovkin and even Duva and Kovalev are getting frustrated. HBO losing Top Rank is bad for business unless they get Haymon back. GBP only has 1 fighter and Oscar would rather crawl back to Haymon than let K2 and HBO **** that up for him. Check Mate!! Mark another victory for Al Haymon and his long term goal of total control!:deal
I didn't know Al Haymon owned Showtime.:think I guess Amir Khan jumping to HBO is a victory for Kathy Duva.:happy
rafael said hbo is having problems because of huge time warner budget crunch which is hurting all hbo departments. its customary business practice to always have options to maximize your return. even when looking for a job, an employer will underpay you unless you extract a high offer from elsewhere to ensure they don't low ball you. there is no incentive for anyone to overpay. due to haymon's contracts elsewhere, there is a void and money ready to be spent within showtime's department. enter arum. it could very well be that arum takes his entire stable to showtime after pacquiao retires. or if pacquiao stays in the game, he uses that as leverage. once you understand the money, haymon and arum are really technically the same beast.
Yes it is. Disrupting the fake network power structure in boxing is good. HBO hates any promoter that they can't control. Bob is finally tired of it. HBO don't give a **** anyway. Manny is a done deal and Top Rank is dead in their eyes. Just Roman and Gennady now. Khan going to HBO is good for business because it is PPV unlike the other fight in April up in Inglewood:hey.
:good TR just let go of 5 fighters. Haymon was suppose to be going broke and how many fighters has he let go? ZERO "0":deal Stable still thicker than a dancer at the Spearmint Rhino on a Saturday night.
W T F does Haymon have to do with Top Rank and Showtime? You act as if TR never played the game with Showtime before.
HBO is not a fake network, and Showtime which is owned by CBS which is run by Sumner Redstone (formerly) and now Les Moonves are not saints and a good network, in fact they are just as ruthless if not far more than anyone running HBO. No one in the TV industry is a fine and upstanding citizen they all want to line their pockets as full as they can get them, with little regard for the talent or workers. Arum is scum, Haymon is scum, Espinosa is scum, Nelson is scum. None of them give a s*** whatsoever about the Boxers or the well being of the sport, all they care about is what have you done for me lately. The moment its stops making money for any of them they drop it like a bad habit. Also for as long as HBO continues giving me Game Of Thrones, Real Time, Vice and now Vinyl, I'm a fan.:deal All Showtime has for me at this point after cancelling Dexter is Ray Donovan.
:good We all know this, but I was tired of watching guys play division politics on the forum with the PBC, TR, GBP, Showtime, HBO, blah, blah, blah. Now that the promoters are considering going to who ever pays better maybe we can get more fights. It's not the promoters fault all the time HBO has had a hand in being very petty when it comes to who they will deal with for a fight. Al is no saint but when has 1 fighter "EVER" had a complaint. There are 40 years worth of fighters taking about Arum, Goossen, King, Duva, and even Oscar was ****ted on by Judah. No fighter has something bad to say about Haymon.:deal
If you think Haymon set any kind of new precedent for promoters shopping around and/or changing networks then you are mistaken. Same thing has happened many many times in the past. Good on Arum though for finding network dates for a couple really talented fighters that deserve to be on TV. Especially Lomachenko, he might not be a KO artist but his fights are far from boring. People also forget how relatively new he is as a pro as well - his KO rate might well go up. I mean, he could have fought 15 fights against typical prospect fare and easily stopped them all and everyone would be oohing and ahhing.
I'm glad the fight is happening but there is nothing to thank al gaymon for bob arum has done this before when he took his biggest star Pacquiao to showtime for the mosley fight.
