By why is it that Margarito deserved a shot at Mayweather in 06. Yet Berto doesn't deserve a shot at Pac now?

Cotto - Last good win was what, 4 or 5 fights prior? :yep

Clottey - You serious? He beat Judah a couple fights ago, then lost to Cotto to get a shot at Manny. :verysad

Margarito - That loss to Mosley and win over Garcia really really earned his shot. atsch

This goes back when Pac was at 130 when Guzman beat Soto. All of a sudden, Guzman wasn't a worthy challenger for Pac man. Arum again using the same scenario with Berto, saying he is not worthy enough to face Pac man because he knows Berto would bring it just like Guzman at 130. Instead, they pick the easiest fight for Pac, old man Mosley, the guy with the less risk. What a cherry picker.

 

Margartio at the time had defeated 4-5 Ring ranked WW's. Berto hasn't defeated any, unless Collazo was ranked near the bottom ten.

 

They hoped Margo could beat Floyd and fear Berto may beat Pac.

Actually, if you are serious or even are AWARE about the situation, you'd see they aren't even close. Look at my reply to that question.

 

At what time frame are you going off of? Are you counting Clottey and Cotto?

 

So you are saying that because Hatton lost one fight to Mayweather, that makes him a bum/shot? And Cotto and Clottey giving each other tough fights make them bums/shot too? Wonderful....atsch

 

Of course not, that makes no sense. I'm going by time from when that fight was suggested.

I allways wonderd though, Margo was the WBO champ since 2000 right. How did he not land any big fights during the DLH, Mosley, Forrest, Mayorga era?

 

WBO belt first of all. If you have that belt, you won't get ranked by any other org. Also not being a big name back then, there was no obligation for anyone to face him. He was basically off radar till a little later.

 

He had an entertaining style though so i'm surprised he didn't get much buzz. He should have looked to become some of those guys mandatory, and at least try to unify.
