They said in the media that Mayweather didn't have a guaranteed purse for the Ortiz fight, or any of his last few. He constantly talks about how he makes his money on the back end and how that makes him so much smarter than all the other fighters.

Why now does he suddenly want a guaranteed purse?

**** off and die Arum, we've all had enough of your bull**** excuses. All he's doing is making Manny look like a scared little *****.

Bingo. the New York times actually did a piece about his business model.

But lets be honest. Bob and Manny are just looking for some new **** to throw against the wall and see if it sticks. The temporary stadium excuse has gone down in flames, as has the date excuse.

You know why he never gets a guaranteed purse ? He pais for the whole thing. He is investing in himself.
If Floyd bombs in the box office then its him who loses money.
If Pacquiao bombs its Arum who loses money and Pacquiao who gets millions.

That's not how it works, Floyd is risking everything on the event making money - if it gets cancelled he makes nothing, but that's unlikely. He takes all of his percentage of the PPV and pays Haymon/GBP say 10% between them. Ellerbe is an employee and is probably on a set wage. Floyd doesn't arrange any of this, Haymon is the business manager and handles everything, he probably makes more than GBP out of it

Bottom line is Floyd, GBP and Haymon don't need a guarantee or any up front money. IE Arum is full of **** again

Golden Boy, Ortiz's promoter, guaranteed his purse.

Mayweather co-promoted the bout just like every one of his recent bouts.

This bout with Paquiao will also be a co-promotion, therefore, why would Mayweather need a guaranteed purse? Clearly, the revenue would be split between Floyd's team and Manny's. Manny's team will pay him a percentage and keep all the rest, whereas Floyd will keep all of his share and pay his team out of it. Why would Floyd change his business model for this fight?

Are you saying Arum is going to promote the bout on his own? In that case, he has to offer Floyd a guaranteed purse, and it has to be big enough to make floyd want to give up his promotional rights.

I don't know the contract details, but I'd assume. The *****s like to boast that Floyd is keeping all the money and paying salaries, I doubt it with people like Schaefer and Haymon. Floyd actually refers to Haymon as his business partner and 'goto guy'. He manages everything, he's the brains behind the operation so I can't see him not getting a cut

That's how it should work, if Arum is happy with that is another matter. Arum has the following issues here:

    1. he doesn't get a promotional fee from both sides that he usually does with in house fights

    2. If his cash cow loses, his cash cows drawing power becomes lesser, I think you'd agree that there is a risk of this happening even if you think Pac wins, it's still a much bigger risk than say Peterson/Cotto

No they didn't Mayweather Promotions guaranteed his purse, meaning Floyd himself guaranteed his purse
