Certainly still one of the better fights out there for Lomo. On paper/long term/legacy, it may well be the most significant within a division of him. One that should happen. I don't fancy Salido in the rematch but I'm not sure why people are saying losing the second will take much away from winning the first.

Lol....excuse for what? A lot of people had Loma winning against Salido....not me. I’m just stating facts..... it was Loma’s 2nd pro fight against a world champion and veteran of the sport....Salido did come in over weight and had a sizable weight advantage...Loma did have to over come a very foul latent fight with a very experienced crafty fighter and he did fall short of getting a victory. No excuses...just reality. It was a tremendous effort on both sides but Loma got a ton of experience he’s benefiting from.

It’s a big difference when you don’t have to drain yourself at weigh in to make weight and you are allowed to come in over. When you sweat out 2lbs it takes a massive toll on your body....it’s not just water weight you are losing but vital nutrients and minerals that is difficult to replenish without the aid of IV drips.

That means the fighter will have added energy and strength when it’s time to touch gloves and fight. It also means on fight night a fighter that doesn’t have to sweat off those last few pounds packs on extra weight which comes in handy when you are already the bigger man.

Loma has great defense and he will need it against Rig....Rig also has exceptional defense as well which will be a big factor in this fight with Loma.

As good as Rig and Loma are defensively, they are still susceptible to getting tagged. Rig has tasted the canvas numerous times against a far lesser opponent than Loma. That’s a big concern. The guy who put Rig down multiple times didn’t have a speed, style or skill advantage so it means he will have to fight a perfect fight against Loma if he doesn’t want to revisit the canvas later this month.

Loma has been touched up too, but never tasted the canvas in his entire career as a pro or as an amateur. He’s a fighter who throws a lot of punches so he’s open more than the average boxer. His footwork makes it a little harder for opponents to capitalize on the openings when Loma is letting his hands go but it doesn’t mean the opportunity doesn’t exist for a counter punch to land if someone is punching with him. Rig will be looking to have better positioning by using his footwork to take advantage of those spots.

If Loma is able to beat Rigondeaux, he doesn't need Salido, and frankly Salido is even older and more shopworn now than he was when he mugged Lomachenko a few years ago. Loma should only take top level opponents.
