We all know it will happen all though I certainly hope not.
Now, what are the reasons Arum is making this fight, besides the obvious record padding with a past hof and most money easy black guy fight bull**** he is saying.
I think the real reason is to win the war with golden boy promotions on who controlls the biggest marketshare, or atleast land a hard strategic blow.
Think about it, mosley leaving sets a very bad example knowing his position at gdp, today there was a article where arum called gdp a sinking ship where even their oldest fighters left them.
Do you guys besides the obvious Arum is actually using shane as pawn to gain more power and making oscar and gdp look bad?

    Possibly.

Shane Mosley as an opponent for Pacquiao, helps Bob Arum and his firm in many ways.

    Bingo...

We all know how much Golden Boy and Top Rank hate eachother. Right now Oscar and Shane is beefing big time so nothing would hurt Golden Boy more than to have Mosley PAC fight.

    Ha ha true!

Nothing will **** off GBP more than to have one of his fighters (or ex-fighter) fight for Top Rank against Pac!

That and the fact that the more fights Pac keeps on winning TR will have more leverage when Pac/Mayweather happens, if it happens, if not Arum will be "milking" Pac till he retires. Its his cash cow now and he has to take advantage because once he is gone from boxing Top Rank doesn't have another "elite" ($$$$) fighter like that, that will bring in that type of revenue.

there are probably man reasons, here is what makes most sense to me.

Arum can dismiss the rumor that pac wont fight slick african american fighters. Mosley at this stage of his career poses less of a threat than berto or floyd, especially if he has to go down to 144 or something stupid like that.

The fued between top rank and GBP, as mentioned above arum would not like GBP to get anything out of a fight that includes pacquiao, so with shane likely to believing GBP oscar and schaefer will have nothing to do with this fight in a promotional sense.

Its only really a keep busy fight, a tune up. I never thought i would use the words Shane Mosley and tune up in the same sentence but from the outside looking in that is exctally what it looks like. Arum, Roach and pac all know that shane has little to no chance of beating pac.

Its another name to add to the resume, If pac can be the first person ever to stop shane than some casual fans and the *******s will honestly believe there was something great and awesome about stopping shane, when anyone with half a brain would know that stopping shane at this stage of his career while being somewhat of an achievement is not really that great at all.

The same reason Pacquiao vs. Cotto, Clottey and Margarito were made easy wins + nottable names = big money for Pacquiao and Arum.

Arum has the most popular Boxer on the Planet...especially among "casual fans", as well as pop culture media. Any smart business man would continue to ride that "wave" for as long as possible. And if you ask "Casual Fans" to name 3 Boxers, their answers would be Pacquiao, Mayweather and Mosley. Mosley's name still carries name recognition and offers the least amount of risk and most amount of money for that minimal risk.

    No-one remembers this:

    or this:

Back in 2005/06 FMJ said hey..."I want to fight these guys"...and they were all solid, legit, capable fighters. Now lets fast forward to 2011. Shane Mosley is obviously NO longer the fighter he used to be...right? So what do you think it says about a Promoter/Trainer/Fighter who purposely goes after a fighter that offers nothing in the way of competition...only just a name:-(.

I can recall several interviews in which Floyd has said: "If I take a fight with _________ (insert fighter) I would get killed in the media". Wouldn't it be nice for the fighter that everyone says has all this class, to have the balls to tell Arum & Roach "Thanks, but NO Thanks" to fighting a fighter that is coming off two poor performances and obviously no longer the fighters he used to be? When does this stop? How about Morales after this? I hear Fernando Vargas is still fighting...why not him?

The difference between the "Casual Fan" and the Hardcore Boxing Fan...is the "Casual Fan" can't see through the BULL****!!! And Arum knows this!!!
