I'd rather have the speed and lack power, unless I had the fists of Paulie or Cory Spinks. Even with their speed, when they got behind in fights they had absolutely nothing to get them out of the fire ie.. Spinks v Bundrage and Paulie v Khan for two examples. There are quite a few guys that lack power that still have enough to keep people from walking in ie... Floyd, Lundy, Alexander, Bradley etc..

Nope, he has accomplished plenty on swiftness and skills....but the lack of power limited his accomplishments, on the other side of that coin we can use Gatti ...again did some accomplishments on guts and power

Not really sure why you continue to look at a 2 division champion and top level contender and choose to emphasize how a 'lack of power limited his accomplishments'.

Obviously it depends on how much power or speed we are talking about but for the sake of the thread ill say power.

Pauli with some power would have been a scary opponent!! That's all I am saying...lack of power limited in the sense of helping him on fights that perhaps the power would have change the outcome....

If Paulie had more power, he would have achieved more. His achievements in boxing are very good anyway though.

    Maybe.

But if he didn't have the speed and skills, he's probably not in position to 'accomplish more', because he would not have been the same fighter.

IMO, the key part of the OP's question wasn't necessarily the 'power' vs 'speed' one. It was being 'slow', which IMO, puts a hard cap on anything a fighter can accomplish, regardless of how hard they hit.

At a glance power seems more important. But then you see guys like Tim Bradley, Muhammad Ali, Floyd Mayweather, Guillermo Rigondeaux, Joe Calslappy, Pernell Whitaker, Paulie Malignaggi and Bernard Hopkins.

Hmm... Sure did... However it's still vague enough on the power puncher's end

It does, and it also ruins your stock... And if you just so happen to be a Paulie Malignaggi getting derailed by Miguel Cotto... It sucks

Pavlik was a alcoholic, and Lacy just flat out sucks. Ruslan got embarrassingly outboxed by a nobody, and even though his stock dropped, he's still has people backing him.

    Yeah, but it's true

370 days after losing to Cotto, Malignaggi fought for and won the IBF LWW title. Not really sure if I'd call that being 'derailed'.

I think we can agree though that if ANY fighter has someone backing them, they'll get their shot, regardless of style. Algieri (Top Rank), even after getting embarrassed by Pac, will be back on HBO very soon too.

Again, nothing wrong with being Sweet Pea in the ring, whether 'blood-and-guts' fans understood and wanted to watch or not.

Another extremely important quality is stamina....without, you can have power and swiftness....but if you run out of gas in 3 rounds.... It is all over!
