As a boxer. What location would you avoid at all costs for a big fight?

England - The rules of boxing pretty much go out the window. As seen in the Hatton and Froch fight, fighting a hometown guy in England subjects you to a series of rule violations, such as, hitting in the nuts, back of the head, pulling the head down, and WWE.

Texas - Recent fights like Paulie vs Diaz, John vs Juarez highlight the problem of fighting in Texas. It also includes probably one of the most infamous jobs of all time. Whitaker vs Julio Cesar Chavez.

Germany - REputation speaks for itself. Barring knockout, you can pretty much forget about winning a decision here.

i understand that negotiations are tough and that when one side has more leverage, the venue for the fight can be hard to change or influence. but once you put pen to paper, you gotta man up and deal w/ it.

odlh/sturm...vegas...mecca of fighting. i'm sure every big country/venue has its share of skeletons in its closet.

The Froch judges were from Belgium, Italy and Mexico and the ref was from Panama.

The Italian judge gave round 11 to Froch. So never fight in Italy

The other guys hometown, but if you aren't the money maker out of the 2 fighters you'll get the decisions go against you no matter where you are

Or you can fight in the states win clearly with ease (Sturm V ODLH) (Holyfield v Lewis) and just get plain robbed by the hometown refs.

Sturm-DLH was a real eye opener for me. It really showed that somethings are truly already determined. If DLH had died that night they'd probably have DQed Sturm and found a lookalike to face Hopkins for all the money.

There is no excuse for holyfield vs Lewis 1, but it was oretty much made up for by the wide scores in the 2nd fight LEwis really didnt deserve.

With all the mega fights in Vegas, you expect a few slip ups. But its usually a fair location to fight.

when the scheduled fight is supposed to be a competitive bout but also a springboard for a particular fighter especially when moving up, they'll get some home cookin no matter where its at.

there is a reason why sturm was at 160 but bhop was at 156 :yep

also, hatton had a pretty competitive home fight moving up to fight collazo (he was hurt) as kind of a springboard to 147 only to drop back down to lww before fighting pbf.

when the big $$ is down the road and the fight before you is more of an investment in that later fight...yeah, you can expect a members bounce here and there :good
