In fact boxing dates even much ancient than in the classic Greek period. Angola 6500 B.C, Mesopotamia 6000 B.C, Egypt 5000 BC, Creta 3500 BC

Alot of the arts martial arts used in modern "MMA" not only boxing have historical traditions.

I bet those 6500 B.C Angolans had a super slick shoulder roll!

It is narrow-minded and reeks of ignorance. I think people forget how damn painful it is for your joints to be bending in ways they aren't meant to. Requires a lot of mental strength to do any combat sport and after seeing guys look damn near purple in submissions and mebeing in an armbar for a demonstration(hs wrestling) I gained a newfound respect for wrestling and MMA in general. Really interested in MMA and may get a book and either boxing and/or MMA though boxing is my first and always. Don't get how guys can say MMA is "gay" yet boxing can be twisted to look gay by saying "all it is is guys hugging and inbetween rds two guys talking who are in kissing distance". Anything to fit an ill agenda containing stupidity.

I'm a fan of ALL forms of combat sports. As long as there's fighting involved il be there :yep
Although my passion will always be boxing followed closely by PRIDE/K-1/Muay Thai.
