As a fan of combat, can you see yourself watching mix martial arts or pro wrestling and if you watch both, how does it compare to the other combat sport boxing?
YES I like both Although, pro wrestling isn't necessarily liked for the same reason since u know it fake... I'm not as interested in who wins or who loses (yes I am, I'm lying) as much as I'm interested in seeing people perform amazing stunts MMA... Well, lets be real, its a superior "martial art" to boxing, and I'm very interested in seeing guys like GSP, Jones, Silva dominate they're opponents (I only tend to watch the top guys though) But both are a distant second to boxing
I have nothing against MMA, although I haven't invested much time in it nor do i have any real plans to do so. I grew up watching pro wrestling. It's just fun to watch.
i like MMA but not a big fan of the wrestling aspect of it. Love the stand up game. Haven't liked pro wrestling for a long time. Big fan of the old school of the NWO, WOLFPAC, Fab Freebirds, Road Warriors, Doom, Steiner Brothers, Von Erics. This **** they have now sucks.
I watch mma not as much as boxing, but every time fight ends up on ground for longer than 30 40 seconds i'm bored out of my mind... pretty much you can see bad stand up or good bjj which isnt for my taste, about pro wrestling NOOOOOOOO watching bodybuilders jumping around the ring and acting terribly no thanks i'll pass.
I don't really watch much MMA. When I do see it, I prefer watching them standing up and striking to the grappling. Something that puts me off the striking a bit is that it often comes across as sloppy in comparison to boxing. One thing I like about boxing is how graceful certain movements and techniques look -- Mayweather using his check hook and pull counters, Donaire stepping back from attacks and unleashing his sharp left-hook to catch people as they come in, Ali, Whitaker and other past greats swaying away from combinations and making people hit air, etc. For such a brutal, violent sport the footwork and punches can look surprisingly refined and polished. In MMA I don't really get that sense, but it might be because I haven't seen much of it so far. I also realise that they have a lot more things to worry about when they're fighting -- getting taken to the ground, getting kicked, knees in the clinch, etc. I can see why it might look 'sloppy' when there are so many factors involved, whereas in boxing it's only limited to the hands. One MMA fighter that I did like watching (from what little I saw) was Anderson Silva. He's the only one I've seen that moves and attacks with the kind of polish and refinement/grace I was talking about earlier. He's good to watch.
I enjoy MMA from time to time. I use to enjoy it a lot more. Professional Wrestling is a soap opera, scripted but real. It's a weekly show like any soap TV> If that makes sense?
I love all of them for different reasons Pro Wrestling: Storytelling, Amazing matches Boxing: Great, action packed fights MMA: Great fights the fans want to see (unlike boxing sometimes), More chances of a finish
Not a huge fan of the sport, but there are certain fighters I love to watch. Mostly the strikers. I can appreciate the BJJ but I find the lay and pray style that seems to dominate a lot of the UFC boring to watch. Preferred Pride to UFC. They put on some spectacular shows and I loved the Grand Prix. The UFC has a production style that is too white trash meathead for my liking.
If it's quality striking technique you like, you won't find better than the Muay Thai scene in Thailand. Check it out, you won't be disappointed. :yep
