after the shane fight win or lose i would like to see him fight margarito, williams, floyd, hatton, cintron and even clottey.

how comes floyd fans never want him to fight everyone who is anyone??

    i remember when i said.....

after floyd beats hatton he should fight both cotto and mosley one after the other, and people started calling me a hater for wanting to see floyd go through 2 great fighters.

As a Mayweather fan, I would love to see him fight the winner of Cotto/Mosely. However, I fail to see the logic in him fighting Shane if he lost. On the other hand, if Shane wins and then Cotto wins a couple fights in say March and June, then a fight between him and Floyd(assuming Floyd were to beat Shane in the spring) would make sense for next November

Ofcourse Mayweather ain't fighting the loser. He's gotta bigger fish to fry. I.e. the winner... Duh

Nah. Cotto can take Cintron. Kermit is still pretty robotic, which is what cost him against Margarito.

Margarito would be tougher. He throws from unorthodox angles and is capable of catching anyone (with luck) with a single punch that can turn a fight around. But Antonio loops a lot of punches, whereas Cotto is more disciplined and could catch Margarito between those wide shots. I'll give Cotto an even shot against Margarito.

Paul Williams is reminiscent of Tommy Hearns, but not as good. His reach makes him a difficult target, but he doesn't always use it effectively. Instead of sticking straight shots with snap, he tends to sorta fling his gloves with his long arms sorta trailing behind like a kite string. And he can be caught - even Sharmba Mitchell and Terrance Cauthen tagged him a couplafew times, and they didn't have anywhere near the power of Cotto. This would be an exciting matchup if they make the fight soon. In another two or three years, tho', I'm betting Williams' strength will improve and he'll be sticking his shots with more snap and power. If he's still a welterweight by then he'll be devastating. But I'm betting he'll be a middleweight by then. Right now, the edge goes to Williams but I wouldn't be surprised if Cotto KO's him. I don't see Cotto taking a decision, tho'.

I wouldn't write off Cotto against Mayweather. Against Paul Malignaggi, Cotto showed he could handle a slick boxer. Granted, Paulie doesn't have much of a punch, but Floyd throws mostly powderpuff shots these days, probably to protect his hands which have been injury prone throughout his career. Cotto has the style to pressure Floyd and make that shoulder roll defense a bit less effective. I'm not saying Cotto beats Mayweather, just that it's a fight worth making. Look at it this way - does anybody really wanna see another Mayweather vs. Gatti or Baldomir level bout? Or a Judah rematch which almost certainly will erupt into another ring-filling bar brawl? Hell, I'm not even expecting much from Mayweather vs. Hatton. Ricky has already shown he has trouble at welterweight, so this matchup is mostly a money maker that is pre-ordained in Floyd's favor.

but what would look better in his resume? only the winner or both??

what if marvin hagler said he wont fight tommy hearns because he lost to leonard or he wont fight duran because duran lost to both??

george foreman could have also said no to the ali fight since ali lost to frazier and had a very close fight with norton.

as a fan of a fighter you should want him to fight everyone who is anyone, you shouldn't be caring how much money he is making thats not your job,

i want cotto to fight them all win or lose he will have them on his resume, which will make him a greater fighter.

If Cotto lost to Mosley what makes you think he deserves a fight at Mayweather?

    What a joke.

If Cotto wasn't as exciting people would moan about him until Kingdom come. Pretty much ALL the elite aren't fighting everyone. In hindsight Floyd can say he fought the man or the best at every weight class other than 154. Even at 154, DLH is a greater fighter all time than ANY of the other champs.

If you're going to use that reasoning . . . then why did Mayweather fought Zab who already lost to a journeyman? :think

Would Cotto losing to Mosley put him down to the 50th place in the rankings? :-(

Please explain how Mayweather fought the best at 140 and 147. This will be interesting. And you say all the elites aren't fighting anyone, well how about Taylor, Hopkins, Winky, Marquez, Barerra, Vasquez ect. They have all been in tough fights as of late. FLoyd really stepped it down a notch which is why he was critisized. Foturnately it now appears he is looking to make some great fights happen again.

Cotto has been fighting good undefeated fighters, and is now signed to fight Shane Mosley. Whats there to complain about there?

His career has always been moving forwards, and his level of competition has always increased bit by bit.

Mayweather was fighting great comp at 130 & 135, and then started with trash like Brussels, Gatti and Mitchell. Not very impressive for a guy who is the p4p no 1 in the sport. That is why he gets a hard time.

Anyway, back to the original thread, Mayweather vs Cotto is going to be MASSIVE. If both of these guys win (which I am confident they will) it will set up a career defining fight for both guys. Who ever wins basically cements their name as one of the top ATG's in the sport. Will be a fantastic fight. I am dead set pumped.

Very well said and I agree 100%. Floyd will get nothing but grief for fighting the loser.

Floyd fought the number 1 and 2 guy at 147 in Baldo and Zab. At 140 he is now facing the best 140 pounder of his era.

Of course there are guys fighting good fighters but they are all missing people out.

Taylor didn't sign to fight Calzaghe, he fought two 154 pounders in a row.

Hopkins just fought a man 15 pounds lighter than himself.

Marquez missed three champs at 118.

MAB has missed champs at more or less every weight.

    Vasquez fought a bantam weight.

Cotto fought in the hottest division in boxing and managed to not have one legacy defining fight at 140.

How is Floyds career not moving forward? He became linear at 147, then had the biggest win of his career at ANOTHER weight! What is not moving forward about that? The fact that they were not exciting fights.

You can hate on em all. The same applies to Floyd. Floyd gets extra hate because he isn't exciting.

Morons think it is better for Floyd to fight Margo and Spinks then DLH and Hatton. To them I say sort your ****ing life out.
