The whole situation came about due to the actions of Victor Ortiz. So if I start a 10 car pile-up on the road, and the 9th car hits the 10th car due to the **** I caused, is that 9th car at fault for the accident? The entire sequence of events was started by Ortiz. Ortiz didn't have to repeatedly headbutt through the bout. Ortiz did not need to leave his feet in a blatant attempt to injure Mayweather with his head. And Ortiz did not need to step back with his guard down after a fight had resumed. The only fighter in the ring that night that was keeping his poise and composure was Floyd.
By that analogy, you mean there was no way that Floyd could have stopped himself from sucker punching Ortiz, and therefore, he could not be faulted even the slightest bit. Okay then if you see it that way.
I agree 100% . Nothing was really proven this past saturday night . I commend you for admitting that to yourself . A lot of Mayweather fans on here need to be like you . Ortiz def deserves a rematch .
Fight was on, but you keep using the word "sucker punch." Bandido: Was the fight resumed or not? How do you "sucker punch" somebody during a live boxing match in which you are "supposed to punch the other person." The only sucker in the ring that night was Ortiz, and he got punched. That is the only "sucker punch" I saw... A sucker getting knocked the **** out. To use a quote from Jack Dempsey: "What was I supposed to do? Send him an engraved invitation that I was about to hit him? This is boxing. Protect yourself at all times." You wouldn't have clocked Ortiz the first chance you got Bandido after all those headbutts? Be real dude. If you're true to yourself, you know damn well you would have been pissed off and as soon as that fight resumed you would have been looking to put the hurt on Ortiz. A lot of fighters wouldn't even have waited for the fight to resume and would have went at him immediately. Tyson would have taken some of his ear. Duran would have hit him in the nuts. And a slew of other fighters would have reacted in dirty fashion. At least Mayweather waited for the fight to resume.
we all saw what floyd did, you could see it in his eyes he was planning it. he tapped gloves waited for tree boy to take 1 step back and he clocked him. Just bein real :smoke
To Ortiz, the fight was still not on (and definitely his fault but moreso Cortez fault). Now, if you hit someone who thinks the fight is still not on, don't you call it a sucker punch? By definition, it was a sucker punch because the one getting punched was not expecting the punch.
victor879: It was perfectly legal but it was a horrible way to end a fight. If you dont understand that than your a ****ing idiot. real talk
Damn right he was planning on it. Fight was being resumed. His guard was up and he had a disgusted look on his face. Funny, we could see he was about to punch but Ortiz couldn't? Somebody wanted out of the ring, and his name was Victor Ortiz.
I said I was disappointed with the ending as it robbed of us of the natural KO that would have happened. However, how is that Mayweather's fault? It's on Ortiz. He caused all of this frankly and was looking for a way out of the ring so he can get his $2.5 million.
The fight was on. Whether or not Ortiz knew this, is not up to Mayweather to figure out. Was he supposed to tap him and say "Hey dude, we just got instructed to fight again. Might want to put your guard up because I am about to punch you." Seriously dude?
I disagree it wasn't a cheap KO. If Peyton Manning throws a TD pass when the defense isn't ready or set is it a cheap TD? Peyton purposely tried to catch defenses off guard all the time. He'll spike the ball when defenses are substituting their players in. Is it cheap to steal bases in baseball when the pitcher isn't looking? What Floyd did was right. Knock him out as soon as the opportunity presents itself. That was the dirtiest headbutt I've ever seen in a boxing match. Ortiz turned it into a streetfight with that leaping headbutt.... he should've gotten DQ'd and fined.
ortiz got what he deseved, pathetic headbutt and floyd punished him for it, tough luck, no rematch, my bad and his goofy grin, get lost ortiz your a quitter and had no business being in the ring with floyd anyway, mismatch and it was obvious, ortiz was just hoping for a Very lucky punch to try to rush floyd, it only would have got worse for ortiz as he tired and he would have been stopped or quit
