Hatton stopped him with a single body shot...Cotto would've broken his ribs made him pee blood for a months or disfigure Castillo's face, forcing the ref to stop the fight.
It is true, Cotto got hurt by Judah and retaliated by hitting low. Judah was being broken down systematically by PBF and was going to get stopped until he hit PBF low. This is how PBF fights. He breaks you down and if he can get you outta there, he will (Hatton).
Miguel Cotto is a solid welterweight who was dehydrating himself to make lightweight during his greener years. Jose Luis Castillo was a legitimate lightweight, at his best. So the question is, would the weight-loss effect Cotto, the way it did in his fights with Corley and Torres (where he was hurt, albeit at 140). I think so - Castillo's bodypunching would hurt Cotto, as would his steady work-rate and in-fighting skill.
Hatton stopped a shell of Castillo. Looking at the other posts about Cotto vs Castillo....well if they were in the same weight class at prime for prime...I go with Cotto by a edge. Castillo was a tough fighter.
Your right, I remember this. I still think after all those wars he had, he was done. Think about it, if he had beaten Hatton, his stock would have skyrocketed. I hate to see fighters lose most or all of the money they worked so hard to get.
