I already declared it before . . . Pac doesn't need to go up to 147 . . . it's the people around them pushing for it because of the big money involved and how much they're gonna earn.

Well the truth is even Pac and Cotto's brains are being affected by $$$$. :D

Yeah man. Boxing is so frustrating because of money. It's hard to knock a man for trying to get paid but they go overboard all the time. Nobody wants to swallow their pride at the negotiating table.

I don't know what's complicated for fools here. Didn't Roach already make it clear EVEN BEFORE STEPPING IN AGAINST DLH that this will be the first and last fight at 147, they're going to 140 after it and if any of the guys at 147 want it they will be kind enough to consider a catchweight. Cotto is not FORCED to take this if he doesn't want to, simple as that. Cotto has many other options, Mosley/Berto/Margarito/Mayweather and others are all possibilities for him if he doesn't want the Pac fight.

Where did the 143 catchweight demand come from anyway? A while ago, Pac declared that he could fight Margo at welterweight (w/o any catchweight). Then Freddie says 143, but accedes to the 145 lb demand. Now its down to 143? It looks like there's too many damn jackals hanging around Pac, influencing him and all. Somebody needs to tell Pac this fracas hurts his legacy.

BTW, I'm all for the 147 lb limit. Or 145.

    my thoughts too...

:D you bring up a good point about the belt if pac wins. He can't defend it at a catchweight afterwards. and a one-night stand with a boxing title is just wrong.

Here's hoping Floyd signs a fight with Pac before (election) campaign time 2010.:bbb

I'm interested why Bernard Hopkins doesn't get ANY flac for his catchweight fights. ALL of his big wins have been against smaller guys and no one says a word.

Yet when Pac 'thinks' about doing it he gets CRUCIFIED saying he has no honour etc etc.

I mean Floyd is fighting JMM at a catchweight who is naturally 2 divisions below him.

Manny Pac hasn't even fought at a catchweight yet and hasn't even signed the contract for his next fight and people are ready to cut him down.

Yeah, I agree with this ... 147 is the upper limit, if you want to set the lower limit at 140 then fine but there is no reason that Cotto should handicap himself to fight Pacquiao.

If Pac cant make the weight then that's just something he has to live with but he can be flauntin himself as some kind of welterweight when he can't even make that weight and expects real welterweights to come down for him.

Whatever way you cut it, it looks like bull**** and I think personally that Roach is behind this, Pacquiao probably couldn't care less if he weighed 147 or 142 on the night.

Because Manny has gone up through the weights and now appears to have hit his limit but wants to fight Welters for their belt. Cotto is also a fighter who is known to be a lot better at 147 than he was at 140.

If Pac wanted to fight Mayweather at a catchweight of 143-4, I would have less of a problem with that because Floyd is not known to be at a disadvantage at that weight.

Edit: Scar ... Pac called Cotto out after the Hatton fight, not the other way about. Cotto would be quite right to decide he doesnt want this fight at a catchweight and no one has the right to call him a ducker for it.

Mayweather Jr is asking Marquez to move up 2 weight divisions to face him and while I have seen some annoyance with this it doesn't even come close to the negative backlash against Pac who is asking Cotto to lose 3 pounds.

I think the problem people have is that Pac is a on another level over Cotto so if they were both the same weight and exact same size Pac would destroy him. Cotto's only way of winning this fight is by having the power/weight advantage.

And meeting Pac in the middle takes some of that away.

He needs to stick to the jr welters and leave the the welters alone, yea he wants to make it easier on him but so are they. Pac doesn't need to fight these guys and no one is going blame if he don't fight them.
