He's a unified HW World champion at an age, and number of fights, all the HW greats were still considered prospects. Fights 19, 20 and 21 Tyson Fury - Vinny Maddalone, Kevin Johnson, Steve Cunningham. Deontay Wilder - Daniel Cota, David Long, Marlon Hayes Wladimir Klitschko - Cody Koch, Najee Shaheed, Carlos Monroe Lennox Lewis - Levi Billups, Derek Williams, Mike Dixon Mike Tyson - Steve Zouski, James Tills, Mitch Green Muhammad Ali - Henry Cooper, Sonny Liston, Sonny Liston Anthony Joshua - Wladimir Klitschko, Carlos Takam, Joseph Parker Just because he's fighting at a higher level than virtually any HW prospect in History, doesn't mean he isn't a prospect. He doesn't even have the extensive amateur career of a Usyk/Lomachenko. The criticism is completely unjustified.
I respect what you say but you can't stay midrange with a puncher like that. You need to control the fight and commit wilder. He is so wild a simple jab will put him in his place. Bit let's see
Look at wilders ko’s there set up from long range for the most part he wobble’s from range then goes in for the kill he’s also very dangerous once you let him find his range witch ultimately you will if you box patiently from the outside like you suggest. Then look at aj’s ko’s there all close to mid range, we have seen that when he boxes from the outside he doesn’t get close to getting a knockout from long range. If he boxes the way you suggest it will end in disaster for him against wilder mate.
But look at AJs weakness, which is his engine. If he approached wilder like that he WILL get tagged eventually. Hopefully we find out but to me he looks like he is prepping for Wilder. Look at how Chisora beat Takam or Whyte dealt with Parker at times, you trying to tell me AJ couldn't have done that?
Yeah he should of done that and boxed to his strengths but he’s become overly cautious how you can think that the way he boxed in them fight’s was because it would be easiest ways to get the W due to his size and reach advantage and both fighters deficiencies. As others have said it due to him becoming a safety first type of boxer. Also what you don’t seem to understand is fact wilder is more dangerous from range aj more dangerous from mid range and inside, if he stays at range he will get tagged and put away, on the gas tank yes that’s why I said he has to put him away early and I said if it goes late wilder will get him. Don’t know how many more times to say it but wilder is more dangerous on outside aj better on inside and mid range so why is it a good idea for aj to box a game plan witch suits wilder and plays into his hands? He will get clipped you say but aj can clip him but he certainly won’t from the outside we’re as wilder will.
Yes AJ is definitely better fighting on the inside and pulls off some nice combinations. Long range he sacrifices power for range to keep his opponent at bay. With Wilder it's the opposite, he generates most of his power at range and is comfortable fighting on the back foot
Povetkin won't make the same mistake Wlad did, when he hurts Joshua badly enough he will go for the ko. And he will get it.
Need some perspective. Look who Fury and Wilder were fighting after 22 fights. AJ is well ahead of schedule. A couple of performances below par isn't too much to be concerned about. I'm not sure if Mcrackan is right for AJ. AJ likes to have a tear up. His not afraid to lose or take shots. I think Mcrackan needs to let him fight his way. Yes it's dangerous, yes it takes a lot of energy but AJ is at his best when his letting his hands go.
McCracken has always been his trainer. AJ isn't going to blow everybody away! Nobody does, he has boxed very well in his last 2 fights, how is that a bad thing?
In my opinion, if Joshua is static and dosent move around. He will get his head taken clean off. The Late rounds is where i would be worried for him, given his poor stamina compared to Wilder and will cause him to be a gassed out statue. In my humble opinion, Joshua from 1-3 assess Wilder and settle into the fight. Then from round 4-6 those three rounds, you better take him out Anthony, or you are in serious trouble. That right hand of Wilder’s is perfect for fighters who don’t move their heads, to evade that right hand, be mobile, agile and have speed.
