Because Nog got a sub after getting beat up by Tim Sylvia doesn't make pride "better" all of the Suddan... I think both org's are almost even if you go by the head to head fights , and I am glad Pride is gone just because we get to see the worlds best fight each other. Nog prob has the best resume of all heavy weight fighters and it's good to see the best fight the best.....except for Fedor and his current circus act he is on.
atschatschatsch Nog didnt get 'beat up' by Timmy Boy, he caught two big punches in rd1 then came back and convincingly outjabbed Sylvia in rd, then sumbitted him in 3. 'Beat up' jeez you've go to wonder about the sanity of these UFC fanboys.
he took alot of shots and was bleeding and was in alot of trouble in round 1 atsch atsch atsch so you can throw all the epicons in you want Tim was getting the better of him, but once it went to the ground Tim was a fish in water. I'm a MMA fan just because I don't bash the uFC doesn't make me a fan boy... I have the ability to like Pride, UFC, Elite XC etc... unlike some biased tunnel visioned people around here.
I see what you mean , but that's an exageration though. Anderson Silva fought 5 times in pride fc and 5 times in ufc But i'll tell you something though...pride fc fighter or not... He was submited twice over there. Once by Chonan & also by Takase.
Well, either way we know that Pride had more great champions of the 2 orgs. But UFC has the better middle class. So on average they're about the same. At least thats my POV on this whole thing.
In hopefully a year or less there will be no more arguing about which org. is/was better, Pride is done UFC is still going so who cares the arguing should be over by now.
If anything, I think that the UFC has shown that Pride was NOT better. Let's look at the fights that have taken place in the United States, with drug testing. Liddell beats Wanderlei Silva Gonzaga beats Cro-Cop Kongo beats Cro-Cop Diaz beats Gomi Griffin beats Shogun Pretty much everyone beats Herring Nog has had his ass kicked twice in his two wins... almost knocked out both times. Also, he won the vacant title against the guy who got completely owned and dominated every second of every round against the man who vacated the title. He barely escaped with a win in that fight. I don't consider Anderson Silva a pride fighter.... The one bright spot for Pride is Rampage. He has done great in the UFC, and seems more suited to fight in the UFC cage than he did in the Pride ring. I really don't see how Pride has shown to be better... that is a pretty outlandish statement. All of their "best" fighters outside of Fedor have come over and lost. Jackson was considered sort of at the end of his rope and brought his career back in the UFC. I was a fan of both, but that "pride fighters are so much better" myth has been blown to pieces, and then set on fire.
atsch But you do consider the likes of Gonzaga and Kongo to be "UFC FIGHTERS" Your reasoning is dismal and betrays your UFC fanboyism.
I think the difference from the ring to the cage is a bigger factor then most would like to admit. I could care less about where a guy fought first, I just have always liked the ring better then the cage and the rules over seas then American rules. Plus I also have to admit I do like the freakshow match-ups that Japanese orgs. put on, and I also hate the 265lb weight limit in the UFC. I just like to watch the fights I really don't think anygood comes out of "which organization is better" debates.
Yea... whatever. To be honest... I think that they are all just "fighters" who at times fight for one org or another. I never used to tell people that the UFC was better.... but I have always said that Pride wasn't better. It depends on how fighters match up individually, no matter what "org" they fight in. However, I do know from first hand accounts that the drug abuse in Pride was completely out of control. Which is why fighters who fought in Japan rarely look the same when they fight in the USA. I mean, people call guys like Coleman, Randleman, Barnett, W. Silva, ect... Pride fighters, and they fought in the UFC before they ever fought in Pride. This has nothing to do with being a "fanboy". This is about being logical. Who in their right mind gives a **** about the organization? I watch this for the fights, and the fighters, not because I have some sort of tie to an organization. I watched every single pride event, just like I watch every single UFC event. It was just annoying always hearing people yap about how much better Pride fighters were... when I knew it wasn't true. Besides that.. Pride is gone, and I don't know why people are still being called "Pride fighters". As I stated before.. I think that the only REAL difference is that fighting in Japan, you can be cranked up on whatever gets you going... and in the USA they test for every drug known to them. Doesn't mean that every one of them are doing it. Nog never struck me as someone who did that, neither did Henderson or Fedor.
Any dirt? Who did take juice and who didn't? Randleman, Coleman, Sapp, Wandy, Arona, Filho, Gomi, Crocop, I think they might be a given.
Well, I wouldn't do that... as some of the people that I talk to who have fought in the org have taken substances themselves. I think that it was rather obvious who was on them, and who wasn't. And the list of who was is a lot longer than those who weren't.
