Well the reality is 3 guys that were NOT the best in there divisions in PRIDE are all now UFC champions with fantastic resumes. The CC and Shogun loss`s were aberations but these things happen. Thats the nature of the fight game and MMA. Guys were ready to write off Liddell after he lost to Jardine. All of a sudden his again a world beater now that his beaten up a shot Wanderlai. Too many UFC fanboys are just that and cant seem to see further than the last fight they`ve watched. Wether fan boys like to admit it or not, PRIDE WAS deeper than the UFC. They did boast more talent and had the better fights as well as a better presentation. To argue the semantics now over which org is better is completely immaterial.
Owned in what way? Wow, you guys are some serious losers. Is this how you spend every day of your life? Arguing for days about this worthless nonsense? I stated my point, and that is it. I don't need to respond to a bunch of pathetic excuses about "why" all of the pride fighters got their dicks knocked in the dirt when they fought in the UFC. Cro Cop was "washed up", even though he just came over from Pride after completely dominating the open weight GP, and everyone considered him to be at his absolute best, even saying that he would beat Fedor if they fought again. Then he gets destroyed in the UFC, and all of the sudden "he doesn't look the same", and "he is shot". Of course he doesn't look the same. You aren't used to seeing him get his ass kicked. That doesn't mean that he is shot. I am supposed to stop and respond to all of those moronic statements? I am above that nonsense. If people without a working brain want to believe that, then what do I care? There will always be morons in this world, and it isn't my job to try and educate them. Now, I will let you two keep making dynamite comebacks like "yea, you got pwned!" and "Every pride fighter that lost was shot and that fight doesn't count..... and any pride fighter who won just proves that Pride is better".
yep, he reminds me of a lawer who can put a spin on anything he wants and get the answer he wants to hear.
Speaking of looking pathetic, why don't you tell everyone how you are a better athlete than James Toney again
As I stated a million times.. I am not saying that the UFC was better... I am say that Pride certainly wasn't better either. Maybe you liked the way that they presented it better, and that is fine. Both orgs had great fighters, and each were deeper in different weight divisions at different times. I always felt like the UFC was deeper in the lower weight divisions, and pretty even at 205, and that Pride was deeper at heavyweight for the most part.
your right Pride was much deeper and better for the first half of the decade, that's why it was almost shocking when some of the pride fighters had lost to the inferior UFC fighters, but they get free passes for their loses because when pride shut the doors some fighters became "shot' and past their prime.
:rofl:rofl:rofl Its pretty ridiculous isn't it? When a Pride fighter loses, "oh, he's past his prime, took the fight lightly, not used to the cage" :nut When a Pride fighter wins its: "OHMY GOD PRIDE ROCKS!! UFC SUCKS!!! **** UFC **** DANA WHITE! PRIDE NEVER DIE!!!!""
Never seen a single snippet of TUF in my life except the Karo-Nate Diaz thing. And even If I had seen the show I would freely admit it because that show has produced some good fighters. Hey, if you don't believe me, ask Mauricio Rua. :deal
I personally watch the show every season. I have also watched every UFC since UFC 2. (immediately watched UFC 1 after having seen UFC 2)... and have watched every pride event as well. I don't see what the problem with the TUF show is. Entertaining, brings money into the sport for the fighters, and brings a lot of fans. You may act like you liked the sport better when there weren't so many fans... yet if that was the case we wouldn't see all of the big fighters going into the UFC for the cash, and ending up with all of these big fights.
Rampage and Nogueira are considered Pride fighters because they made their names (and thus established their careers) in Pride. One of the major reasons the UFC lured Rampage was because he destroyed then LHW champ Liddell; many people wanted a rematch to settle the score. Anderson Silva is a grey area because he did not make his name in Pride. But the fact is that 2 out of 5 UFC titles are held by ex-Pride superstars, with a third title in dispute. Pride didn't even have a welterweight division, and none of their top lightweights transferred over to the UFC. Minus Cro Cop and Shogun, both of which have time to bounce back, ex-Pride fighters are have performed quite well thus far.
TUFs great to me its brought in alot ALOT of quality fighters like Nate Diaz,Chris Leben,Mike Swick,Forrest Griffin,Josh Koscheck,Diego Sanchez,Josh Burkman,Rashad Evans,Joe Stevenson,Marcus Davis etc.
