damn. that means the earliest mijares - montiel gets made is next year. at least the winner of mijares - darchinyan gets to pick up the ibf strap, and sweeten the pot for a unification fight/undisputed status with montiel.

i guess for mijares the darchinyan fight will definitely the easier one with his opponent already having been KTFO'd by donaire. :deal

Mijares is starting to sweep through the best Super-Flyweights, he's already beaten Arce, Munoz and the pretty decent Navarro in the last year and a half and of course Reynaldo Lopez and Kawashima before that.

Should he beat Darchinyan it's another big name on the record and also he picks up the IBF belt.

After that the Montiel/Gorres winner and then maybe Donaire is all that's left.

 

That was never going to happen next and Donaire already has a fight scheduled for the Margarito v Clottey undercard against a South African.

 

It will be interesting to see what the odds will be. I would have to favor Mijares but Vic will always be one massive punch away from victory, which is scary for any of these little guys. But Arce got completely lit up.

This is a really good match up. It is easy to visualize Darchinyan getting painted. It is the right choice for Vic though, take the chance before he gets too old. If he pulls off the KO here it would be huge.

 

Mijares by dominating knockout. I see Mijares slipping and countering Vic all night. It didn't come in to play against Kirilov, but Donaire shattered Vic's chin. He was in trouble multiple times against Z Gorres. I say Mijares stops Darchinyan in the mid to late rounds.

 

this fight will be interesting. Darchinians style seems to be tailor made for the counter punching defensive minded Mijares with one exception Mijares doesnt own crunching KO power, can Darchinian walk through Mijares and get the KO. Its the only way I see Vic winning cause a decision will certainly go to Mijares the better all around technician.
