As expected, biased writer Kevin Iole gives his countrymen a free pass for fouling!

    Yahoo! Sports should consider expanding it's team with someone who understands what impartiality in journalism means, because Kevin Iole doesn't seem to get it based on his two last two weeks, and as someone with responsibility toward those who employ and read him, I say he failed the test and should rather join us here, on this board.

    Remember my other thread on Kevin Iole’s biased views? In one fight (Abraham-Dirrell) he would suspend Arthur for a shot that most believe was thrown in the heat of the night (and got legitimately DQ’d for it, no excuse for Arthur, legit win for Andre), but in another (Marquez-Pacquiao I), Iole gave Pacquiao a free pass for hitting a clearly defenseless Marquez on the canvas, and didn’t even comment on the foul (neither Joe Cortez).

    On Saturday, American fighters Roy Jones Jr. and Bernard Hopkins fought a terrible foulfest with several intentional fouls and many posters here believe that these legends disgraced an entire boxing generation and showed horrible sportsmanship for the youngsters who might never watch a fight again. In one occasion Jones clearly hit Hopkins behind the head and Hopkins went down for about 3 minutes with the ringside doctor taking a look at him. (Remember that Roy was knocked down HARD by Green’s shot landing behind the head as Roy turned into it, and was stopped moments later). Reports say Hopkins later collapsed in the dressing room and stayed in the hospital overnight. In the end of the round both fought clearly past the bell as Hopkins was pissed and not ready to return to his stool yet. In a 3rd occasion Hopkins intentionally hit behind Roy’s head who retaliated with his own. There were other fouls too.

    So here was the chance for Kevin Iole to step up to the plate, stick to his OWN standards and demand the same or worse suspention for his counrtymen for the multiple intentional illegal fouls. It is absolutely unacceptable to step over the line and play commissioner demanding a foreigner to be suspended - then just a week later give his countrymen a free pass for a series of fouls. Hopkins went to hospital and Jones' health was at risk too, all due to these disgraceful incidents, and here's how Kevin Iole comments on his countrymen:

    Is this for real? No mention of the very serious fouls AT ALL? "Jones wasn't throwing much back"? What about the ones that sent Hopkins down and later in Hospital? What about Hopkins fouling "in spurts"?

    You see Kevin Iole says "Roy Jones was as poor as expected" but the irony is that this is as poor as I expected from HIM! Boxing has too many issues, and if the "most respected" (meaning working for the largest news resources) journalists fail impartiality so miserably, I say this sport deserves to eat what it gets where he writes.

    Kevin, you had the chance to get back some respect with simply following your OWN standards regarding illegal fouls and serious punishment, but you failed. Shame on you!

    Abraham fouled yes, but "wound up as hard as he could"? looked like an arm punch to me. A swat at best. As for Ellie Seckback, who the **** let this nuff-nuff out of the clinic?

    the guy is a hard puncher....when you doing a split on the floor like bambie and you don't see it and can't even really slip the punch or recoil...then you get your bell rung.

    his head almost spun.

    Manuel Perez and Liam Santiago are also more biased than Iole. Scott Gilfoid probably too.

    Maybe. But Iole is at a top position of a really small world of boxing writers, and as someone with great responsibility, double standards are unacceptable. Iole must use the same standard for Roy and Bernard, or else it will look like he's very biased againt a foreign fighter and biased for his own coutrymen.

    Big Bone, didn't you start a thread regarding Iole's alleged bias towards Pacquiao? Here you're claiming his biased towards Americans. When did Pacquiao become American?

    Look, apparently other people think he's biased as well. This is from his mailbag;

    "You are a fat-ass bottom feeder. Who do you think you are? Your prefight article regarding Hopkins-Jones II is subjective b.s. You’re an overweight hack who doesn’t know anything about boxing. You talk about two of the best fighters of all time being bad for the sport, when in reality it is worthless haters like yourself who are bad for it. I’ll fight your worthless butt any time. Fight an average guy who actually pays his hard-earned money to watch and support boxing. Better yet, kill yourself. By the way, what will you write when Roy wins? I’m sure it will be more the same."

    Apprantly this guy thinks Iole is too hard on Jones and Hopkins. Big Bone of course claims he's biased towards them because they are American even though he claimed he showed a similar bias towards Pacquiao who isn't American. I'm sure this is all part of Big Bone's plan to expose bias in the world of journalism and not simply bitter rants towards Iole because he heaped some criticism on Abraham.

    Here's another thing, Iole thinks both of these guys should retire. What the **** would be the point of saying either or both of them should be suspended when he thinks both should never fight again?
