..or speed is a pretty good antidote for reach, ..even if the reach has power, give the speed superior skills and smarts, ..that reach may not connect enough to prevail.
But we'll probably never know. :-(

True enough, but I think we'll agree that, as a rule, reach does better against speed than power does against speed.

Gotcha. I thought Carlos was Williams' next fight, though. ??

I have said something like this before, many times.

PBF has overcome all kinds of fighters before but Williams seems to have a unique combination of height, range, reach and workrate that PBF hasn't seen before.

I doubt Williams could hurt PBF but his menacing thousands of punches might just get him the decision.

In retrospect, I remember the many articles dismissing Ali during his career...too many to mention. I find it bizarre seeing someone commentate a fight, not one of HBOs best efforts I might add, and then hours later, slam the victor with 'loses to' drivel. I confess I was taken aback by the lack of class.

    Oh, brother.

I don't have a major distaste for Floyd. He isn't my favorite and there are things I dislike about him, but there are things I dislike about Roy Jones, too, and he's one of my all-time favorites. It has no bearing on how I view him them as fighters.

Your brand of hyperbole is nothing new around here. "Fight of the decade," "incredible victory," etc. You do know that Mayweather was a significant favorite, right?

I thought he looked great and it was one of his most impressive performances ever, as I've stated on various threads. It was a fight in which he could shine and he did.

Having said all that, in what alternate universe does discussing other potential fights equate to dismissing someone's victory? Like I said, there are lots of "what a great fight!" threads and I've participated in some of those, but this is a different thread for a different topic. You seem very rigid in your hero worship.

And I've made clear I'm not the real Jim Lampley. Stop acting childish.

You are something else. I still halfway believe you're joking. How dumb would the real Jim Lampley have to be to post here using his real name? Wouldn't it merely invite the kind of lunacy you've exhibited on this thread?

thats why i say hes the uncrowned king at 147lbs.....

Mayweather is great.... and williams isnt on his level yet, but the physical differances are too immense imo. And yes, i think williams beats everyone at 147.

    All clear now.
I expected such rubbish from a lowlife but not a professional.
    Over and out.

Happy to straighten that up for you. You could have picked up the point much earlier, if you'd bothered to pay attention.

And for someone who likes to toss out the word "class," it's humorous you would call a random message board poster a lowlife. Can't say I'm surprised. You might want to check outside your window to make sure the black helicopters aren't circling again, though.

You think Williams beats Cotto? Interesting. I struggle to see Paul winning that fight. I think Miguel would break him down and capitalize on Williams' inevitable big mistakes.

How do you see it going?

    Cotto beats Williams

    Mayweather beats Williams

I confess, I'm just not big on Williams, yet. I think he needs more experience. In a couple years, who knows..
..but right now, I think Mayweather and Cotto are that damn good. :deal
