In my opinion, RJJ will outclass silva in a boxing match...and dana probably realized that..

I don't remember him saying his fighters could beat boxers, especially RJJ who still has some ability left in him.

That's my thought exactly. Why let one of his premiere champions take a beating in boxing? Then anti-MMA pundits will point to that fight as proof as to how boxing is superior to MMA.

I've always said that if these guys are going to compete against each other, then go all the way. Let them go a few rounds in boxing. Let them do a few rounds in kickboxing. Let them do some submission grappling. Then top it off with some time in the octagon. That gives everyone their chance to shine. And it will never happen. Closest that I've seen is the wierd mixed rules matches from Pancrase. I remember Maurice Smith fighting Minori Suzuki in a match in Pancrase where the first round was just kickboxing and then the second round included grappling.

It could have been a PR stunt to begin with. I doubt Silvia would have forgotten that he is under strict contract with the Devil himself, especially after the recent fiasco with Couture and the UFC. It was good while it lasted to stir up some controversy on both sides. The UFC name got promoted in a way across boxing articles and forums.

Nope....I said it then and I have said it all along....Anderson Silva would have knocked out Roy Jones even two or three years ago.

At this stage in Roid's career I think Anderson would leave him starched in a sea of shattered glass.

If boxing is so great then why does Sergio Martinez not come over to Japan and take on Shinya Aoki? Uhh?
