Silva is a quick relflexed athlete with a great punch .... My granny knocks out Jones and she has NO pro experience (except whooping me at age seven for peeking at little girls huhahs in her basement)....so what would prevent Silva from an early KO...nothing....even three years ago when first proposed?.

I see Silva having a fair chance of winning a boxing fight against RJJ of now.
If RJJ was in prime i would give Silva no chance in hell but considering how ****ing shot to hell RJJ is it wouldnt shock me if my brothers son who is 6 could KTFO RJJ

My thinking was the same when I brought this up originally a couple of years ago.....but most thought Silva would get destroyed...it was not about boxing skills or Silva's lack of boxing experience....it was about athleticism, confidence in the combat sports competition, reflexes, Silva's incredible one punch power and Jones' glass chin....in reality Anderson would have knocked Jones out early.....made a lot of money and propelled him to greater superstar status.
    Now of course its meaningless.

This is where we disagree right here, before I even read the rest of your post.

I don't think Anderson Silva is a 'fighter', I think he is a mixed martial artist.

Therefore I don't think he should fight anyone and everyone who 'fights', I think he should only face other mixed martial artists.

Your not the only one to subscribe to that way of thinking, the Popkins Doctrine is not a point of veiw that I agree with. it takes away a little something from the greatness of MMA in my opinion.

Besides, Anderson Silva has already fought in boxing, and **** load of fighters have already "jumped" combat sports.

"Just sticking to MMA" is a rule that has been broken even before people were calling it MMA. The Popkins Doctrine might one day take effect if Zuffa contracts become a necessity to compete in MMA. But I dont wish for that day. Instead, I want to eventually see MMA fighters test themselves in the individual arts that they train in, even at the highest levels. Otherwise mabe we should just call them "ultimate fighters", since they are not really mixing martal arts but just fighting under a newer martial art.

Anderson Silva has been training boxing about as long as he has been competing in MMA, but Silva started fighting in muay thai(supposedly he had a record of 40-2). None of that matters though because as it turns out one of the biggest supporters of the Popkins Doctrine is Dana White, and He gets the final say.

Dana says no. And that's that.:verysad:|:verysad

If Dana ever goes against the Popkins Doctrine, you'll see what a truly shitty idea it was all along, when ATG boxers get ****ing smashed to bits by journeymen boxers, and ATG boxers get mauled and embarrassed by medicore MMA fighters. The Popkins Doctrine was created for a reason, not for fun.

In an MMA fight? More than likely they'd get taken down immediately and owned on the ground, as long as the guys they fought had a brain and knew how to take someone down. This is what would happen to 90% of boxers if they fought 90% of MMA fighters. 10% of the time, the puncher's chance would pay off and you'd see a Marquardt vs Maia style knockout straight away. This is what makes it a pointless and boring idea. Much better to have guys from the same sport face each other. No need for this teenage fascination with who'd win between Fedor, Mike Tyson, a killer nanorobot, a tiger and a dinosaur. You stupid *****.

RJJ would absolutely hand Silva is ass inside a boxing ring, Dana won't let it come close to happening.

RJJ is a shot shell of his former self and ANYBODY who can halfway crack is a liability to bust his Glass Jaw, and you should know that from Roid's hilarious result against Danny Green!:rofl:patsch
