Haven't seen this kind of thread on here, and I haven't been on much lately, so apologies if it's been done before, but what is ESB's opinion on this? Cotto to the HOF or no?

Personally, I say his resume is right about there. Another win against a solid-good fighter puts him over the top.

    Your thoughts?

IMO, no not yet. He's career has not ended yet. He has the necessary tools to make it to the hall of fame.

Fair. I don't think anyone who has any real boxing knowledge is running around calling Cotto an ATG.

needs 1 more big win and hes in

He should fight Hlatschwayo take his title then fight the winner of Berto/Mosley for a 3 belt unification, if he wins hes a lock.

I think he might be. Aside from a "loss" to a cheating Antonio Margarito, a fight he was easily handling, and the real loss to Pac, he's had a very illustrious career. Never ducked anyone and always fought against the best of the divisions he was a part of.

Not a first ballot hall-of-famer, but if he retired tomorrow in 10 years he'd be inducted.

I agree with most here, if he wins another big fight against a good opponent, he should get in. As it stands, it's a tough call, but I lean towards no.

He's only 29 say he fights till his 35 ish as most fighters do.

6 years that is 12 to 15 more fights that we know there will be some other names to his list.

He will make the Hall Of Fame.

And should as there are not to many Puerto Ricans there.

I think Cotto needs just one more big win to ensure his place in Canastota. As it stands right now, I think he does have a chance anyways.

As for ATG status, one thing he needs to do is spectacularly avenge this loss against Pacquiao, but that seems impossible at this point.

he's HOF worthy. His resume speaks for itself...

    Cotto's resume @ WW sh*ts on Floyd's 'campaign' @ WW

Very true. Cotto has fought Margarito and Mosely, two fighters Floyd shamelessly avoided. At 147, Floyd hasn't even beaten anyone on the level of Clottey.
It's a lot easier to keep your "0" when you sit back, talk snotty and pick your opponents with the care of a housewife selecting avacodos at the supermarket.
