What, that some of them are intelligent enough to look out for their business and realize that nobody else is going to do it for them? I believe his point was that if he stays undefeated and keeps plugging along he'll be getting $2mil per fight and won't have to sign up with some off brand promoter like ROC Nation to get it.

 

All of this and Roman Gonzalez gets laughed at when he publicly requests $1 M for a rematch with Estrada... which would be one of the single most relevant fights in boxing at the moment (probably even the second most relevant).

And Showtime is paying Thurman 7 figures to fight Bundu?!?!?

...it's sad, really.

 

Lol if anyone cares to actually read the story or think about where Roc Nation is at this point of time. Roc Nation is a new promotion company and hardly has any fighters at this point in time. I doubt they are the company to get Thurman a high profile fight.

2. The quote has to be read in context. Thurman knows he is gonna get offers left and right because of his 0 so he wants to make business choices carefully, not get tied down to a sinking ship ala Gamboa. Gamboa had an 0, got flashed some money from 50 cent and his career stalled big time even before he got knocked out.

3. Roc Nation and Al Haymon have beef since the music industry so it's not wise to have two conflicting parties in your corner.

Thurman is better off working like a free agent and try and get fights with TR and Golden Boy. He is in the hottest weight class with the 4 of the top guys p4p; two of them bringing in top money. He isn't gonna get top fights with a no name company like Roc Nation.

 

The only 0's that really matter in boxing are Mayweather's, Gonzalez, & Ward

Nobody else has put in enough work for there 0 to even be considered worth anything
