As much as I am sorry for Povetkin, I am glad for Whyte.

I always felt bad for Whyte that his 1000 day campaign was ended without a proper title shot. A least now he will get a shot next year, after Fury-Joshua has sorted out. I don't think he'll be the same fighter, but he deserves his day in court.

As for Povetkin, I hope he retires, but I will not be the least bit surprised if he tries his hand a bridgerweight. It is a WBC belt, and he was just the WBC interim heavyweight champ. He could talk his way into a fight with the winner of Rivas-Jennings, and I think he will. A guy like that just does not know when to call it a day.

I don't feel bad for Povetkin. The man had a great career and lost against a good fighter at the twilight of his career.

I do not see how these fights vs Povetkin might had improve Whyte's legacy or career.
    Not at all.
Before fight vs Povetkin Whyte had been considered as more real cotender. Whyte had been ranked by boxrec #4 and Pov #6.
After first fight Whyte was #6 and Povetkin #4. Whyte had dropped in rankings.
Now Whyte again get almost the same place he had before both fights vs Povetkin.
More than 7 months plus training time for both pre fight camps are wasted.

People also will remind his loss vs 40 years 11 months old 224 lbs Povetkin in 2020 th.
Fans are unforgiving and overall for his career fights vs Povetkin did not anything good.
