I have seen 3 Hamed fights. Kevin Kelly. Augie Sanchez. Marco Antonio Barrera.

That said, I have to think bookies (especially bookies that set odds that are available to the general public) are pretty objective or they wouldn't stay in business.

Besides that, the last guy Naseem fought prior to Barrera was Sanchez who had 1 loss at the time and a pretty high KO %, if memory serves. Naseem TKO'd Sanchez in 4 rounds. So how far was Hamed past it when he fought Barrera. Really...how much damage had Naseem sustained in his career to that point?

If anybody was gonna' claim past prime in that fight it would be MAB whom had like 45 fights or more at the time and had already been in various major, knock-down-drag-out brawls with various heavy hitters.

So, w/a a solid UD loss to a MAB more than 2/3 through his career as his greatest accomplishment, how far underatted is the 'Prince'? Really...

    :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl

I stopped reading at that. So Robbie Peden is "elite" and Ayala is "elite"? Best of all you have Kennedy McKinney as elite, a guy who lost twice to Bungu. And yet Hamed never faced a single elite fighter according to you.

So let me get this right, McKinney who lost to Bungu twice, lost to Espinosa and who was simply a good world level fighter is "elite" but Bungu who beat him twice, was an Olympic Gold medal winner and also a world level fighter cannot class as the same?

And Robbie Peden and Ayala are "elite" but Wilfredo Vazquez, HOF shoe in Manuel Medina, Boom Boom Johnson and Kevin Kelly are not?  :patsch

Hamed was past it not physically but in terms of what he had become, how he trained and how he fought. Read my other posts on this, and yes you saw him at his worse, looking for single KO shots, which is not how he fought until he got rid of Ingle and became obsessed with his power.

No, it was the most bias, pathetic post on the thread so far. Anyone who says Hamed fought nobody elite before MAB and then lists Peden, Ayala and McKinney as elite should never post again.

To be fair Smiffy, this is a thread on Naz being underrated and as I think the opposite, and I've heard those statements I brought up re the Barrera fight made often on here (want a link?), then I think I have the right to air my opinion without you acting like a scolding moderator. If he splits opinions and deserves to be talked about, why can't I comment then?

Steve Robinson was on a stunning run of 8 wins in a row, 7 of them in Cardiff, 1 at the Northumbria Centre. Yes, the world really was taking notice and respecting this WBO champion. Irrespective of what you say about him, the guy had lost 9 times in 30 fights. I assume, like all British boxers, you think Duke McKenzie and Colin McMillan were smashing, but in a world title context, they weren't. McMillan held the WBO title for 1 fight, and that's that for his career. He has possibly the WORST resume for any world title holder in history - yes, worse than Robinson's! McKenzie was a natural flyweight who had already been stopped in a 1 round in a bantamweight title challenge.

If you think a win over Robinson (remember, 17 losses!) is a feat to be praised, then fair enough. For a great fighter, that would be nothing more than a routine, mundane, never-to-be-mentioned-again mismatch.

I suppose I'm being BANG out of order being critical again am I?

Yep, stacked with household names there. Wow. He's like a British Oscar De La Hoya. Maybe I was wrong after all...

what are you on about ?
i'm going off my memory ,not this resume thing cos i remember mckenzie and mcmillan and i know they were good fighters. i also remember the win over robinson was widely acclaimed to be a good win. so forgive me for my " know nothing about boxing " stance but i'll stick with what i know.

i know where hamed belongs in the history of the game, below barrera and morales but none the less a fighter worthy of being remembered. you've admitted yourself you used to like the guy and watch him fight so i don't understand why you're so critical.

    peace.

He was at his worst and past it when he fought Kevin Kelly then (btw , which was before Ingle. I checked boxrec) ? I don't see the difference between the Naseem that fought Kelly and the one that fought Augie Sanchez. You're reaching. If anything (on this forum especially), Hamed is

who said you can't comment ? i was disagreeing with you pacfan thats all. to be fair your the one who often ridicules people on here for daring to have a different opinion mate, not me.
and i fail to see one part of my post that resembles a scolding moderator, really.

Your memory is tinted with roses then. McKenzie was a flyweight fighting at a weight he couldn't cope with, McMillan was a domestic level fighter, like Michael Gomez in that respect, though obviously with the opposite style. I am being critical because I think he is often highly overrated. Right now being one of those times. That I liked watching him fight does not change that.

No you clearly think your bias crap could sneak under the radar. Explain how Peden classes above Medina, Boom Boom Johnson and Vazquez. This should be priceless, I wonder how many in the boxing world would place Peden above those guys?
