As their resumes stand now.. who has the better resume BHOP or Calzaghe?

A lot of people have been comparing resumes between the two lately, so in this thread I want some of you to describe clearly why you feel one is greater than the other without all the wishy-washy BS that I've been reading from a lot of people.

I'll go first with my choice.. I'm picking Calzaghe as the superior resume. Both fighters fought and beat all the solid opposition that their division had to offer, and both fighters have collected all four of the major championships in their divisions, as well. The biggest difference, in my judgement, is Calzaghe's win over Kessler.. an arguably greater fighter than anyone Hopkins has ever beaten. It's difficult to see how some people feel that Hopkins resume is so superior to that of Calzaghe's even when they consider the win over Kessler. Just rub some of the glitter off of overrated wins such as DLH and Winky, and all the sudden Hopkins resume isn't THAT superior to Calzaghe's.

    This is a new one...

As it stands, Hopkins has the edge, although noway near as big as made out. Close enough that Saturday will have a big impact on this debate

hopkins ... his win against tarver just became a whole lot better last saturday night imo.

they are still close and for me it is that victory which separates them for me.

Yeah, it's beaten into the ground, but I just want to know exactly why people think one is greater than the other and I haven't heard too many opinions that really explain why they choose one over the other.

The answer is Hopkins. Tarver, Wright, Johnson, Echols, Vanderpool, Holmes, Trinidad, and Eastman. Johnson, Trinidad, Wright and Tarver have all accomplished more than Kessler.

What do accomplishments have to do with the fact that Kessler would most likely beat the daylights out of most the names you've just listed?

Kessler is not greater than Tarver, Wright, Trinidad, DLH. Kessler can't even be considered a great fighter yet.

Trinidad and Wright have a better resume than Calzaghe as well IMO.
But calzaghe can definitely totally solidify his career with an ownage win this saturday + a win over Pavlik or something. I think that would be all you could possibly ask for with him.

So DLH and Tito would beat Kessler if they fought? How, exactly?

The debate will go something like this

Calzaghe stayed in his backyard fighting Eurobums

They aren't Eurobums, you are just an ignorant yank ****!

Hopkins has fought p4p elites and future HOF fighters

Yeah, but Hopkins made a career fighting the 7 dwarfes!

    Repeat ad nauseum

In reality both were long reigning champions in weak divisions, and fought a similar number of B level fighters. Both peaked late. Hopkins recent wins are probably what give him the edge.

He wouldn't have beaten that daylights out of alot of those guys. Tarver and Johnson would both beat Kessler, Winky would have a good shot at beating him as well. 2001 Trinidad would have given current Kessler a good fight also.
