    I'll never understand Pedraza's urge to go southpaw. He beats up his opponent from orthodox, switches, then gets tagged over and over.

    José "Pistón" López was a semi-legit fringe contender opponent...and pitching a shutout + two knockdowns versus Jerry Belmontes would be vaguely impressive, had it not punctuated a 4-9 slump (and Belmontes' pro career). But yeah, otherwise? Bunch of nothing on his record.

    I watched an interview with Rodriguez earlier and he seemed like a bit of a whiner.

    Pedraza boxes within himself most of the time. He's very relaxed and is happy just to administer a boxing lesson but his KO percentage would be higher if he changed gears and put his foot on the gas more often.

    Just based on the gut feeling I got watching him last night, I think Nakathila is going to shock the world tonight. He's going to stop the squalling lesbian and brutally.:deal:

    Rodríguez's ammy credentials, btw:
    • Began boxing at age 7, turned pro at 19.
    • Reported amateur record: 221-9
    • 2013 National Golden Gloves Champion (141 lbs.)
    • 2012 National PAL Championships Silver Medalist
    • 2012 U.S. National Championships Silver Medalist
    • 2012 U.S. Olympic Alternate

    Very respectable (of course, doesn't hold a candle to Pedraza, being an Olympian and having a silver medal in the AIBA championships) but his first time seeing real adversity in the pros, in just his fourth time seeing a round 8, he buckles. :shakehead:

    Don't get me wrong, it was a serious amount of swelling, but we've seen fighters bang on with much worse.
