I agree they need to take it slow if they are serious about getting to the top give him 1 maybe 2 fight against good British level opposition (which at that level isn't very high) and then take on Shinny. Lee Haskins is taking on Sarritzu for the European but I wouldn't put him in with Haskins just yet he is hell to fight look at what he did to Broadhurst.

 

Its a pretty poor domestic weight class, he'd eat up Edwards even now. Shinny and Haskins are probably a little far ahead for now, but talent wise hes there.

Ahmed is tough but terrible. Big punch is all we really saw. Too early to say. Highlight reel finish though.

 

he's only 22 and except for Edwards at 112 there are no other fights for him, so a move up to Super Flyweight and perhaps Bantamweight could be on the cards in future.

Edwards next then maybe a step up in weight to face Haskins or Broadhurst then a few defences if he's successful. Certainly seems to carry a decent punch.

He's dynamite. He'll be British champ by the end of the year and I think he'll win titles in multiple divisions too

 

Really? Super fly and Bantam are usually stacked: what you're saying is you think he'll be an ATG? Too early to tell IMO

 

TBH, I don't really rate him. Having said that, he should reach the top of the domestic scene. A fight against Broadhurst would be good for him next IMO.

 

Domestic quality. Lets be honest with ourselves it would be a huge surprise if he bridged the gap to world class.

 

TFFP - It would be a huge suprise if ANYBODY form the lower weights bridged the gap between domestic - world class.

 

That's actually a very good point.

It's not so much that they don't have the talent..... there simply isn't the opposition and/or sparring to allow them to progress too far.

Perhaps if one showed the willingness to move abroad you might see something, but that's a pretty big step to make with the general obsession with conquering the fighters in this country first.

Sexton looks far too sloppy for me to compete world class....but at 8 fights he already looks like he is top of the bunch domestically and he there isnt much to get through at Euro.

Who knows....after another 10 fights with some tough sparring (he said he wanted to get good sparring around the world) he could pickup a title somewhere.

 

That's kinda my point. It's too big of a gap, Latin America/Asians are naturally smaller and have a greater pool of talent.
