Just noticed that Ashley Theopane beat (a shot?) DeMarcus Corley in the states on Thursday night.... Has anyone seen Theopane fight? How does he rank compared to other domestic lww's?
had never heard of the guy. good to see someone taking the chance for better opposition to improve themselves in the states though rather than fighting the same old british journeymen/european nobodies to pad their records.
Ashley is a pretty decent fighter who has fought just about every where, sometimes with success. I would have enjoyed seeing him in with our top domestic fighters but he seems intent on having a nice financial career elsewhere. I doubt he has enough ability to ever fight for a title but he often puts in a good performance. He looks a mean bugger.
Corley has lost his last five, including a stinker against Witter. Time for him to give the game up IMO.
theopane is ok he a rough guy from lots of tattos an that heard he bin prison b4 he's a ok fighter though but i do remember him having a very bad night a few years bk at the exel areana drawing wiv the living journeyman daniel thorpe who khan blasted out in about 2 rounds and ryan barret even beat him dropping him 3 times but very good to c he got a win over a former world champion whos been in with judah/mayweather/cotto/witter stunning an hurting pbf the most ive seen him rocked by a shot and having cotto out on his feet and those fights was only 3 and 2 years ago being 05 and 06 so great for confidence
i just read somewhere that theopane took this fight at 10 days notice and it was broadcast on ESPN wednesday night fights live.
Thorpe did give Gavin Rees a really tough fight a little over a year before he beat M'Baye, there were times in that fight when I thought Thorpe was going to win it !
He nearly Ko'd Andy Morris too. He also stopped Commonwealth games gold medallist Haider Ali and beat southern area champ Jon Honney....amongst a host of other decent lower level victories. Don't diss danny he's a good fighter when he's got his head in the fight.
