Curtis were you offered the fight before Murphy and declined it ? None of what i am about to say is a dig at Curtis at all, i enjoy watching his fights and like his attitude to the sport. Ash in his fight should have been able to adjust to the style someone said , well he did he stopped the guy. His tactics looked very risky to me, giving away a big lead , but the fact of the matter is he won. As someone else said, Murphy will fight every opponent the same way so he had little to adjust to. Ash had to change everything and i am pretty certain he was very complacent, i dare say a lesson has been learned there. People picking Curtis to win based on this fight i just don't get it. Ashley has beaten Demarcus Corley, Lennie Daws , Jason Cook and all of them are better on paper at least than Curtis. Garcia and Rodriguez are both much bigger, as being shown by the war at 154 with Wolak recently. So saying he does not like strong fighters seems a little odd ? Or maybe their knowledge of his career extends no further than the Murphy fight. Back to that fight, I was wondering and worrying why Ash did not put his foot to the floor earlier, I could not fathom his tactics at all , but at no point did he seem bothered, or hurt ( except possibly by a body shot in the first, but i have not watched it again ). He did turn into his opponents right hand to the body and take it flush over and over, which was strange as he is normally pretty smart in the ring and adjusts very well. Curtis has done well , but you have beaten no one Ash would not have beaten, and lost to people he would not have lost to. It would be a good fight and i hope it can happen. Why dont you go for Murphy and show Ash how it should be done and then there will be no reason not to fight you ? I doubt Murphy would turn it down.
i was offered the fight on the tuesday night but im out injured with my left hand so had to turn it down, im by no means saying theophane will be a easy night in the office for me, all im saying is EVERYBODY in the top ten of the british rankings (im 9th) has had a shot at the title and lost apart from me, all im saying is i think i should be next to have my chance, but hes told me by no means while hes the champ will he fight me because he says i dont deserve a shot, that to me is bull**** and it got my back up, but im over it now, dave coldwell has told me to be patient and he will try and get me a crack at it when theophane either vacates or loses in his next defence, but ideally id want to fight him because hes a very well respected fighter on both sides of the pond and a win over him would be very big, alot bigger than winning a vacant title imo but like i said hes stated i aint getting a shot and thats that, i dont think its because hes scared of me or anything like that i just think he likes to think he is judge and juror and we all should beg him for the scraps he leaves, he should remember it wasnt too long ago that he had to leave the country because nobody would give him a chance now hes come back all high and mighty
There's every chance Theophane had never seen Murphy fight until a few days before. And few boxers fight like Murph, least of all Nigel Wright.
I can see your points their Curtis. I think fighting Murphy yourself would be a smart move, his profile will never be higher. There was talk of you fighting Fearons bloke to was there not ? I forget his name Hamilton i think. Is that still viable ? I think Ash will probably fight the scouser who won in two the week before on Sky in an eliminator. If you were in his shoes you would be saying you should be next too having beaten an unbeaten guy in an eliminator. Its difficult, and can seem harsh. Good luck though Curtis and keep plugging away. Your time will come. I would not have taken the fight at a few days notice regardless of injury, i was just wondering if you were offered the match.
Yeah he was offered the fight he said that above and spencer fearon and hamilton wanted the fight and were mouthing off bout it on fb after woodhouse lost to peter mcdonagh but after woodhouse peformance againts frankie gavin they have gone quite which is a shame because an eliminator between woodhouse and hamilton for the british title would be a cracking fight with a great atmosphere
to be fair if the champ fights steve williams next id have no complaints, he deserves a shot after winning a eliminator, and probably deserves a crack more than me, i cant argue that but hopefully i can get the winner, dont want to come across as being arrogant but im just desperate to get that british title, i made promises that id do it and its a promise i intend on keeping
Steady! Steady!! :admin Nah i'd love to win one, special title like the F.A Cup. Just has something mystical and brilliant about it.
You have not seemed arrogant at all Curtis. I hope you get your shot soon. I am sure you would give it your all.
