I went to Aintree to watch the fight and I really had a difficult time trying to decide who was winning certain rounds and I didn't know who deserved to win the fight at the final bell. How did you guys watching it on TV see it? And how did Jim Watt have it? Also if anyone else saw the fight live at the Aintree arena, how did you score it? Cheers.
Can't remember how Watt had it but to me Hamilton won clearly, just the feeling I had watching the fight rather than keeping a card
Punch stats had the exavt same punches landed by each fighter so its no surprise. When the cards were read out and some were 5 round margins I thought it was nailed on Theophane. Real surprise it wasnt, what an amazing performance at 5 days notice for a 12 rounder though.
Yeah Hamiltons team looked suprised they got the decision. Hamilton ran out of the ring as soon as he got the decision. Then he started walking around the arena on some guys shoulders. Glad he got the decision, seems like a nice guy. This has nothing to do with the Theophane/Hamilton fight but I saw Dillian Whyte after his win, patted him on the back and said well done and he just nodded his head at me and smiled, weird because that's the first time I've been face to face with a pro boxer. I like the fact that Whyte spends time talking, shaking hands, and taking pictures with fans at the venue after his fight. He knocked his opponent out in the first 50 seconds with a body shot. The body shot looked hard enough to put his opponent down, but I feel he could have beaten the count more convinvingly. Really impresssed with Whyte, I first saw him fight live at the Olympia against Hastings Rasani and he went looking for the KO to much IMO, he seems to be more relaxed in the ring now, big improvments in the space of a few fights.. One to watch. Also I saw Sam Sexton in in 'Frankie and Benny's around 5 o clock in Liverpool.
Ive never seen Theophane before by the way and was left wondering how this guy mixes it at fringe world class. Bare in mind he had a full camp against a late drop in. I thought that whilst strong with decent power that he looked ordinary in terms of handspeed and lacked much of an array of tricks and moves to open his opponent up. His whole gameplan seemed to be march it with he gloves high, throw the odd jab and then try a hayemakers right hand to the body. Worse still he had reall issue's with his range all night and I think was outboxed by a craftier fighter. Struggle to see how he will make any impact on the world stage, might do alright against a few guys who like to war and trade at close range.
think jim watt had theopane by 1 round they only showed about 5 or 6 rounds on sky after the scores were announced hamilton shot out of the ring n ****ed off and had to be brought back any1 know what this was about??
not a bad fight,i thought he looked like he couldnt be arsed all night,he deserved to loose, full credit to hamilton, obviously keeps himself in good shape all the time. if theophane wants to mix it at a higher level he needs to book up his ideas, what ive seen of him in his last few fights,he has been lucky
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8e6XVJziqg&feature=g-all-lik[/ame] Great interview, Spencer shouting at people and crying, what a tit :rofl
He was crying because he knows what Hamilton has been through to get to this point. Over a year ago, Spencer and Ben Doughty found Hamilton homeless and bought him to the gym. Since then he has become the only guy to stop Peter Mcdonagh, beaten John Watson and Theophane on short notice.
Yeah, it's some story, got to love Darren Hamilton, but Spencer shouting at that guy, he's just so emotional when it comes to boxing
