He's about as Asian as I am. He might be from Asia, but he's pretty clearly caucasian. His family was probably moved out there during the gulags or something.
There was a pretty decent Japanes cruiserweight who i remember seeing live a few times at the forum in Ingelwood,Ca Yosuke NIshijima who had a 24-2-1-15kos he beat some decent journeyman Leonardo Aguilar,Brian Laspada,John Kiser he was nabo cruiser champ and wbf cruiser champ he also fought at heavyweight a few times beating Krishna Wainright,Gary butler, and well known Journeyman of the 80s Wimpy Halstead. Also Golota was knocked out in the olympics by Baik Hyun Man who also beat FORmer title challenger Zelko Marovic in the same olympics he lost in the finals to RayMercer who starched him in the 1st round. He ended up with a Silver Medal in the 88 olympics Hvy wt.
Oh yeah forgot to mention that Nisijima was mentioned as a possible comeback opponent for Michael Moorer after he was knocked out by Foreman.
There are but boxing is not famouse game in asia like other sports and thr aint much facilities like western countries for traiining so thts why you dont see much asians in boxing low weights let alone heavyweit.
:nono I disagree Boxing is pretty popular in Japan, and the Phillipines,Thailand .It also seems like it used to be in Korea but I dont see as many koreans as i used too. Japan has numerous cards on a weekly basis, and its not uncommon for many thai kickboxers( there#1 sport) to turn to boxing. THere are alot of phillipino pro fighters.
True but you said asia and those countries are in asia,so there are countries there were boxing is a popular sport. BY the way smarty how many are there? Just like boxing is not popular in every african, european,Latin country but yet box is fairly represented on every continent.
There are around 50 countries in Asia and boxing is only little bit popular in cental Asia and Eastern asia which makes abt 10 countries so u do the math.:good
china had the silver medalist at superheavy in the olympics. He lost to Italys Roberto Cammarelle by stoppage. I think his name was Zheng?
That is 20% But thats still some representation, There are latin american countries where boxing is not big peru, chile, brazil, uruguay, paraguay,Guatamala etc and many more same with african countries where theres only a few that produce significant amount. Although most of europe seems to be represented, some more than others. What im getting at is asia is not as underepresented as you think,if you look at the rest of the world.
