nobody took Frazier out with one shot and at his peak, the ability Frazier had of doubling up his best shot AS A LEAD PUNCH cannot be dismissed. That hook came out like a jab and could be timed to land at any range - 50 power shots per round off the front foot delivered as fast as a jab? It was a short prime, but within it fighters who could beat Frazier would make a shorter list than of those who could ever have beaten lennox Lewis. The way to beat Lewis was panic him, rush him, and hit hard. Frazier was world class at that.
Guys to beat Lewis? It is a short list so long as these guys are all on it. Holmes joe Louis 1987 mike tyson for certain Marciano (ask Don Turner) jack dempsey would be 50-50 1970 joe Frazier 1990 buster Douglas ezzard Charles (On the same steroids Holyfeild was on) sonny liston joe walcott would also have a shot at beating lennox lewis. Never forget ray mercer was no ATG and neither were mccall and rahman.
I dont see how frazier could do it, yes the hook was quick and powerful and he could vary the timing and length of it but Lennox was a very smart boxer and given that he is at his best and knows who hes in against. I cant see him getting KO'd by a fighter with slow feet who's only punch he needs to watch is the hook to the head. Just not punch variety and footspeed imo. Nobody took frazier out with 1 punch because frazier never fought a true 1 punch kO artist like lennox or tyson. Foreman as strong and powerful as he was, rarely KOd opponents with 1 punch because his accuracy, timing and handspeed meant he rarely landed shots that opponents didnt see because his attack was so predictable. Lennox could truly get you outta there with 1 shot because he had almost as much power as george, but the skill to land a shot that you dont see in addition to the power.
This is ludicrous if Lennox and Tyson were one punch ko artists then Foreman DEFINITELY was a one punch ko artist. Tyson fought in combinations btw. You're trying to say Foreman didn't have good timing and accuracy. Have you even seen him fight? Yeah I'd like to see Lewis take on Frazier from Thrilla in Manilla. Frazier ko 8
Dont get me wrong i like george but He didnt have the timing and accuracy to land a shot that his opponent cant see, therefore resulting in a 1 punch KO. How many contenders has he KO'd with one shot without beating them down first?(regardless of how quicklyhe managed to beat them down) Yes he was extremely strong and agressive which is why he beat people down quickly and violently. But rarely did he take people out CLEAN with 1 punch like tyson did with botha, williams, mathis etc or Lewis did with rahman and ruddock. Foreman just brutalized them very quickly for the most part. Not even the moorer KO was really a 1 punch KO because george had been hitting him the entire fight and he himself said in the he was punishing him the entire fight and that no one could take that kind of punishment for 12 rounds. Thats just how it is. Frazier never fought a guy like that sorry.
Frazier beats Ali but Lewis is too smart for him? I think the ratio of power punches Frazier dished out in his prime, together with his underrated footwork would be an extreme issue for Lennox. Frazier reached Ali at both long and short range in every round, he was able to time the direction of Ali and trapped him. Lewis did not move like Ali. To work Frazier out Lewis needs more time and room that prime Frazier ever allowed anyone. I maintain that the list of champions to beat prime Frazier is a shorter list than the list of who would beat Lennox.
Aldison Rodrigues, Micheal Moorer, Terry Anderson, Ted Gullick and Gerry Cooney off the top of my head.
Cooney was badly hurt before the finishig blow, not a true 1 punch KO. foreman himself said that he had been punishing moorer all night. Rodrigues had no chin whatsoever but i'll give you that one. Terry anderson???? Ted gullick???come on.
There have been other fighters like Rahman and McCall, in other eras, who would have score a similar upset. We just have no idea who they were!
One punch is one punch. I can't be bothered to go through the whole video library of Foremans kayos to find five one punch knockouts but there will be. The guy knocked out more than five guys with one punch. You can nit pick all you want George Foreman was a big puncher.
Of course he was a big puncher. One of the biggest. All im saying is that Lewis presents a different threat than foreman because he had a different delivery system to his power. Something that frazier is completely unproven against. So you cant just claim Lewis couldnt spark a 40lb lighter slow footed Frazier who had a tendency to get hit with uppercuts
