I would still like to know which of these were regular guys. And where they were ranked at that time they decked Joe Louis. If you are to dismiss them as regular I would like to know what this is based on. So far it seems you have arrived at this opinion without being able to even name a single one of them.
There are many and you know it. You also know who knocked Louis down as I do, unless you don't know... I haven't named them because I don't want to be redundant and state a bunch of stuff everyone already knows. Braddock, Galento, Buddy. There's three names. Lewis and other modern heavyweight standards makes these guys regular. If that.
in your opinion by "modern Standards" those guys are made to look regular. But those guys fought a lot of fights and each brought as much to the table as somebody like David grant, golotta etc. Braddock was champion. Galento was #1 rated. Buddy rated high too. At one time On this forum there was a hot debate over who would win out of Galento and Tua.
He said it was a lie that there were concerns Frazier could continue with his career after beating Ali. It was not a lie. Frazier did have an exhibition to test the water. This is not a lie. Read the report for yourself ..if your "comprehension" is up to it that is. https://news.google.com/newspapers?id=nYxLAAAAIBAJ&sjid=DiQNAAAAIBAJ&pg=7142,3126706
I think Golota and Grant probably slap all those guys around. And so you're categorizing all these guys together (Grant, Golota, Buddy, Galento, Braddock), and therefore implying Grant or Golota could knock Louis down. If they could, Lewis could. And we're way off the subject at this point.
"Rumors had it that Frazier would never fight again because of the beating he took in winning the fight." July 1971
It's widely thought that the Ali bout was fixed. There is no solid evidence that proves it was fixed beyond a reasonable doubt. I'm not arguing that Liston had the better chin that Lewis.
Care to share this evidence that proves beyond a reasonable doubt that the fight was fixed? What makes you think Liston's chin was among the best? The more you say it doesn't make it true. He fought Patterson for 2 rds total and Williams for a total of 5 rds. Williams wasn't very skilled. A contender at best, never champion material.
In a 1995 HBO doc about Liston Johnny Tocco revealed Mobster John Vitali told him prior to the fight that it was going to end in the 1st round. Also in the documentary. FBI agent (at the time) William F. Roemer Jr. said, "We learned that there very definitely had been a fix in that fight." Liston took shots from a puncher who very likely hit harder than himself. He was only legitamitely down once in his career. If that's not a good chin, I don't know what it.
