Wasn't directing that to you, Blarney.

Seriously, I also love the "Lewis has a weak chin" argument, when he got hit with more power shots by bigger, stronger, more explosive hitters throughout his career than any other heavyweight champ in the history of the sport.

Good Lord, were he born in 1885, he would have reigned undefeated until about 1950.

I think your reaaching is unbelievable. I think you decide what you want to believe and then make **** up so it fits your world view. There is no other explanation for this level of stupidity.

I know a lot of people around here would probably disagree with me, but I think Holmes at his best can outbox and confuse Lennox.

One that hasn´t been mentioned yet who has a good chance to beat Lewis is Max Baer. He has the chin to take Lewis best, the punch to KO him and the stamina to go the full route while retaining his power. And he could fight at a pace Lennox wouldn´t be comfortable with. At his best I think he has a very good chance beating Lewis.

Baer took more time off in fights than most, he took breathers in every fight I have seen of his.

what on earth is being made up? Do you honestly think Lennox Lewis was composed, un-flustered and breathing comfortably in the McCall, mavrovick and first rahman fights?

the explanation for you not understanding my theory can only be that it is you that wants to believe something else my friend. Nothing to do with stupidity. Not on my part anyway.

I give Holmes a good shot because of his speed and jab ,and importantly his atttitude.
My concern for Larry is his habit of carrying his left low, leaving himself open for the right. Not a wise move against Lennox.

it is also worth comparing how an old holmes fared against the same mercer who Lewis struggled with.

It's funny you say that, because that's the exact thing I believe Lewis needs to be aware of as he had a similarly 'bad habit' of doing the same thing.

If Lewis did catch Larry, I reckon there is a strong likelihood that Holmes recuperates and does not make the same mistake again.

When engaged in boxing, Lennox was always off when he was losing the battle of the jabs, and I see Larry having more success in doing the things Lennox himself would need to execute in order to win.

If Holmes wins the battle of jabs (as I believe he would), Lennox's chances become greatly diminished.

Good point ,but fighters perform differently against different opponents.

I like Holmes ,and have him higher than LL on my ATG list,[ around no 5, ] I was just musing how he copes against Lennox's right, with his known propensity to be caught with that punch?

Lewis had a real winner of a punch with his right hand and many fighters hurt Larry with rights over the top, so I agree its not a done deal either man wins this for sure. Like you said earlier, Holmes had a bitter defiance about him and not even shavers put him away with one shot alone. I would see Holmes get up and taking things to the wire.

Holmes had a lot of trouble with truth Williams who was as tall as Lewis but no where as heavy handed but then although Lewis could box he consistently switched from powerhouse to boxer slowing himself down in the process because explosive spurts would drain him.

Truth Williams used pure boxing and a faster pace than Lennox was capable of against an older Holmes who turned fighter when outboxed. also Lewis would often stall during rounds to rest and could get caught napping. Lewis could be awfully sloppy during a stale mate situation -often only his sheer size helped him through in those cases. For example, Lennox was forced to take rounds out when in control of holyfeild just to recover from his own exertion. He would not get away with taking rounds off against Holmes.

Peak Foreman bashes Lennox in my opinion. Louis probably beats him comfortably.

I give Lewis a 49/51 chance with Ali just favoring Ali ever so slightly.

After that i favor him over everyone.

I think Holyfield with his movement and combinations would give Lewis trouble.

Tyson has a decent shot but i think Lewis would use his size perfectly against him.

Of the sub 200lbs i think that Gene Tunney would give Lewis the most trouble but it still wouldnt be too much of a hard night for Lewis.

I think Holmes and Foreman are perfect for Lewis and i dont think they cause him too many problems.

I cannt see him losing to any of the super heavys, i think he takes Bowe and K2.

Well, I think you are exaggerating here. Yes, Maxie took his breathers but his fights were still fought often at a higher pace than Lewis would like it to be fought. And he would press Lewis and foce him to work more, he wouldn´t turn Tua and get jabbed to death without even trying.
