Aside from the odds, what was arguably the greatest mismatch in heavyweight boxing history?

Jesse was a tough journeyman with skills who just beat Mercer who himself was being groomed for a shot against Bowe. So, at least he deserved the shot.

Dokes, tho on a good complier run (and beat Jesse) looked mummified by crack when he came into the ring.

    Joe Fraizer vs George Foreman
Floyd Patterson vs Sonny liston x2

Despite the prestigious level of the combatants intimidation demonic punching power and a stylistic nightmare played the two small framed come froward brave champions Floyd caught the night train to the canvas in under two rounds in two separate fights and Fraizer had the fat kncoked out of him.

    Tyson vs McNeeley
    Holmes vs Ali
    Lewis vs Tyson
    Lewis vs Grant
Douglas vs Holyfield mostly due to Douglas being fat and overweight.
Vitali Klitschko vs Kirk Johnson mostly due to Johnson being fat and overweight.

LOL I didn’t play a role at all this time bro, I don’t have him on block but have decided not to respond to him Lamotta and Mendoza just to keep my last bit of sanity on this forum. Anyway I don’t know the cause, but have mixed emotions about it.

Frazier-Holmes, but both the kid and the dad seemed to really be asking for it. I think at the time Joe and Larry were not in each other's good graces.

Holmes did what was pretty much expected, and even looked like a power puncher doing so (rare for Larry). To me that fight helped ruin Frazier's career early, he wasn't even as good as he was pre-Holmes when he fought Tyson, and got righteously obliterated. He shouldn't have been in the same ring with either man, ever. Heavyweight nepotism as its most obtuse imo.

I never really thought much of Dokes, and didn't consider him much of a match for Bowe or Holyfield even at his prime. I should mention, I thought Weaver got robbed in both of those championship fights.

Dokes was one of those "do we need this many champions?" champs (kind of like Thomas, Seldon, Bruno, McCall etc.). At least Weaver had some important wins against top contenders like Coetzee, Tate, and Tillis.

Deontay Wilder vs Harold Sconiers (17-20-2).

Except that it was apparently touch and go for a second.

    Marciano v Don Cockell

A quote about the fight : This was a bare-knuckle brawl with gloves—and not a pleasant sight either—as an uncouth, merciless, uncontrolled and truly vicious fighter (the unbeaten Champion Marciano) wore down an ox-legged, resolute fat man who came into the ring with the honor of the British Empire weighing heavily—and consciously—on his massive, blubbery shoulders

Vitali Klitschko vs Tomasz Adamek comes to mind - A slow, light punching LHW against a 6'7 skilled, hard punching SHW

Lennox Lewis vs Botha wasn't great either, Botha was merely brought in to be Lennox's punching bag for his big homecoming fight in London after beating Holyfield and unifying the division.

On paper is only as good as the writing.

If that makes any sense to anyone who isn't me.
