Asking for everyones' opinions on Georges St Pierre overall

Here's a selection of questions for everyone, trying to cover a few bases and not colour things by making my own opinions clear (I am on the fence over a few of these issues, hence the thread):


1 - Do you think GSP is being overlooked/forgotten when it comes to the p4p rankings and ATG/GOAT discussions now because he has been out for so long, and wasn't particularly emphatic vs Jake Shields? GSP has never had his "Sonnen moment" when he got outfought for the majority of any fight, and when you think about it, when was the last time he clearly/decisively lost a round the way that Jones lost round 1 to Machida? Would we be going back to the first Penn fight in 2006, the Serra loss aside (where a full round was not completed)? That's some truly special dominance, considering the consistently high calibre of his opposition

2 - At his best, was GSP the most complete fighter in MMA history? He outwrestled wrestlers, could use his striking to win fights decisively, has a great ground game, etc. I think it's fair enough to say he is more well-rounded than Anderson Silva, though that isn't to say he is more effective overall. Is he the most complete ever, is he the most effective ever at his very best?

3 - If GSP fights and beats Anderson Silva at a 180lbs catchweight, is he the undisputed GOAT?

4 - Does GSP have one of the strongest resumes in MMA history? Do you think it is better or worse than Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira's resume?

5 - Do you consider the current GSP to be inferior to how he was a few years back? Was the 07-08 version who subbed Hughes, stopped Serra and dominated Fitch the best version of Georges there ever was?

Sorry Pops too drunk to read the OP. But GSP is the Only true MMA yet, Fedor is an 8.5/10

I know people want to talk about evolution, but if you are talking about the highest level, then GSP is the only guy you could rate at an 8+ on all levels

 

He's boring to watch because his style is premised on protecting his Wet Toilet Paper Chin from being brutally shattered again.

i think he was the most complete mma fighter he defined mma but after matt serra fight he lost his confidence to make fights exciting

 

1. Absolutely he is overlooked. And the reason for it is that he has seemed to have lost his killer instinct, and is not a strong finisher. He has no doubt beaten the best opposition of any current or past UFC fighter, and he has done it with absolute domination.

2. Yes.

3. If he beats Condit and then beats Anderson. Yes. He is the GOAT. I can't see anybody arguing against that.

4. Yes. He has the best resume. And it i heightened by the way he's dominated everyone.

5. Obviously now coming off an injury, yes. I think more so prior to the injury it was a mental thing, he lost the fire he had. I think the GSP from Hughes III, Serra II an Fitch is the best MMA fighter there ever was.

6. If he loses, but then comes back stronger, it doesn't hurt it. If he loses, and then never regains his greatness, it damages it.

7. Hughes III. It was absolutely insane how badly he was ragdolling Hughes in that fight. :deal

 

I think could have been the GOAT by a wide margin had He not lost some grit after the Serra loss. Jackson wasnt of any help either.

 

He has shined in wrestling since, I believe, embarassing Frank Trigg at his own game way back when.

He has completely dominated every fighter he's ever faced in wreslting, and the WW division houses some of the best MMA wrestlers in the sport. :deal


I also believe he has shined in striking. Just not finishes.
