Idigov re-upped the work rate (with all four limbs) in round eight, functionally shutting down Ford's brief rally. Ford plugging away, hoping to get lucky and catch Idigov as he's circling in a crouch with a flush counter, but it doesn't come. Only some glancing blows on the inside by Ford, while Idigov keeps rattling off jabs and flurries.

    10-9 Idigov

    79-73 Idigov

Ford has Idigov hurt in the 9th! Chasing him down! Turning into a slug-fest, advantage Ford. Idigov creeps into a corner and shells up as Ford jabs & hooks in on him. Idigov manages to shoulder-thrust his way free and carry Ford diagonally across the ring into the corner opposite, but can't get off any effective blows. He's knackered.

    10-9 Ford

    88-83 Idigov

Wild & wooly stuff down the stretch, with Ford snapping Idigov's head back with jabs and then grappling with him as Idigov flops in with his arms spreading out to envelop him. Idigov survives a late barrage of huge telegraphed Ford hooks by flat out running away.

    10-9 Ford

    97-93 Idigov

Yep. Kind of a shame Ford didn't figure all that out earlier, could have made this damn close.

Just imagine, had Ford become aggressive in the first half it might have tipped his way for the road upset!

I honestly worry for Ryan Ford. Becoming this high-level journeyman and taking on so many fringe world level guys in rapid succession in your mid to late 30's is admirable, but ... he's going to wind up taking a career's worth of damage in just a few years and might not have full brain function by 50. :shakehead:

...and Sirotkin harping on the commentator having promised to bring him to a Manchester United soccer game (I guess conditional upon him winning?) :sisi1

American Football is wildly popular, no one gives a crap about soccer but high school girls and their soccer moms, that is until they graduate and forget about it instantaneously.
