If y'all get HBO, check it out. I expected to have much hate for Luis Resto but instead I feel he was just a manipulated, ignorant pawn. On the other hand I think Panama Lewis should be executed, he's directly responsible for Collins' death as well as the destruction of Resto's life and the family of Collins. He manipulated Resto and knowingly created a situation where Collins could be severely hurt or even killed. The scene where Resto confronted Panama on "Who did that to the gloves?" said a lot about their relationship. While Resto is still ultimately culpable for what happened, as he knew the gloves were bunk, I'm not sure how easy it would have been for someone like him to call out his trainer and demand the gloves be replaced. I think he's paid his dues. Panama on the other hand hasn't paid nearly enough and his life is going great now.

The whole thing is a great tragedy, and I'm really pissed at how Panama handled that situation. I hope he breaks a ****ing leg. Resto handled himself with dignity and honor in coming clean about the fight and speaking to the people the fight impacted, but Panama was just a ****ing ***** about the whole thing. What really saddened me was to see Panama manipulate and bully Resto when Luis could have beaten down that an at any time.

A bit of reminder, since the board seems to be "gun-ho" about the Campbell, Bradley fight-but this is a powerful, tragic documentary. If you missed it ( I chose to watch it instead of the Bradley-Campbell fight-sounds like I didn't miss much)-It replays on HBOw on 10pm PST and 1:00pm EST. My quick 2c, Panama Lewis is a snake.

Panama Lewis is a sub-human dirtbag. A waste of sperm who never should've made it past the abortion table.

Luis Resto comes across more as pathetic than despicable.

I'm glad y'all agree. It was a great documentary.

I tried to hate Resto for what he did but I just ended up feeling pity for him. I'm very hardcore about punishment, but honestly I think he's paid enough. Panama Lewis on the other hand... that mother****er should be in a grave.

    I just finished watching it.

    Very powerful stuff.

Luis Resto, the poor *******. No insult to him, but he isnt the brightest of people, and boxing was his livlihood. He had everything taken away from him

Panama Lewis is ****ing scum. The guy doesnt give a flying **** about what he did. He ****ing cheated, and its obvious now why Pryor got his "second wind" against Arguello. Cheated, flat out.

Im glad Resto came clean. He was in a situation that didnt at the time that didnt leave him any options. What was he supposed to do really? Quit the fight? Turn his trainer in? He would have villified and destroyed, and this was big chance to get a shot at the title. When he finally realized the extent of it in the ring, he was too far into it to turn back.

You know why is any of what was said inthe HBO thing a surprise?

Lewis was a cheater from back in the Pryor/Argeullo fight. I was around back then and watched those fights. Just listening to him try to BS his way through stuff and his body language shows he was hiding stuff. Had those gloves not been tampered with I believe that Collins would have beaten Resto to a pulp. "Irish" Billy was a very good fighter on the way up, and Resto was a club fighter at the time.

But I don't think Resto needs to feel guilty about Collin's death. Collins killed himself driving drunk. That is not Resto's fault or problem.

Boxing's problem has always been guys like Lewis, who prey on the hopes of others (Resto) and use them to further their gain while really having no scrupples about what they do or how they do it.....pure sociapathic behavior.:think

I was completely in awe of how this event ruined so many lives except the obvious one (panama). Resto was a pawn in this event and was easily manipulated by panama. ****, during the first "confrontation" Resto had with panama, he straight bitched up like he had been mind****ed. That was a clear sign to me that panama still had this guy in the palm of his hand. Panama could have told him that the sky was orange and he would've believed it.

On another note, I think that the Collins family defineatly milked the injuries that billy took. I'm sure the fights that were offered to him post Resto were not lucrative, but his own dr said he could've kept fighting. Then when the family finds out that Resto confessed, they want to reopen the lawsuit? Why didn't they want to confront the man who did it when he was at their front porch? I guess the hopes of $65 mil will make anyone do anything...

I have mixed feelings about Resto. I want to forgive him, but it was such a disgusting act, and not the first time he loaded his gloves. A few years ago he was saying in an interview "what about my injuries? I got busted up too in the fight" which sounded pretty scummy to me. I hope he truly is remorseful and sorry (and not only sorry for getting caught like Lewis).

As for Panama, well I didn't think I could hate the guy anymore as I previously did. After watching this doc, I was mistaken.

i believe that resto knew about the tampering but i don't think he fully understood of what it can do. i don't think that he knew plastering his hands could harden as it does.
thats why most people should understand now why cotto's face just all of a sudden swelled up cause the first 6 rounds he hardly got touched and all of a sudden he absorbs a few body punches after the plaster harden and the man couldn't move he was stationary whenever he touched the ropes then he was a beaten man. people should respect cotto for the tremendous heart he has

  15. is there any chance of this being shown in england, i first read about this a couple of years ago on espn. that panama lewis needs throwing into a barrell of acid and the lid put on ,or somebody should hack out his eyes and tounge and leave his ears so he can hear what people say about him that ****in parasite
