Hey, in the other thread nobody is really discussing the film in detail as they dont want to spoil it for other, so i thought i would start a thread for those that have seen it to discuss.

It was a very well made film, really compelling, when i saw Billy Collins busted face i almost threw up.

My theory is that they Panama Lewis and the two cornermen were all in on it and wanted to win due to the betting scandle. I think the Resto new what was going on as he admits, but he was almost Brain Washed by Panama Lewis.

They discuss that Resto never had a father figure, and I think Panama Lewis became that. Resto trully loved the man that turned his boxing career around and therefore would do pretty much anything he says. You can see in the two times that he confronts Panama Lewis he is unable to express anger towards him and lets Lewis talk himself out of it.

The people that are trully to blame are the New York State Athletic Commison and in paticular the person that should of watch Resto get his hands wraps and check his gloves. It seems that on that night Resto was wearing Gloves with less padding, a plater aparis simular to Antonio Margorito and had drank the "magic water" and that if people had done the job they were supposed to do there would not be a problem.

It was one of boxings darkest hours.

Rob I watched it last night. It was horrible to see resto confront Lewis twice and then not do nothing and stand there with his head hung. When Lewis hugged him I felt so sorry for Resto and wished he'd have twatted him.

Very insightful film and very moving. I said to someone the other day who posted that it was a shame for both boxers (or something to that effect) that it was the worst post i'd ever seen. Now I know what he meant. Sad day for all involved. Lewis should not be allowed to make the money he still does from the sport.

On a side note I didn't feel much for Billy Collins' father. Seemed to be a bit of a money grabber, and I never realised that Jnr could have actually fought on.

I listened to the ESPN podcast the other day, and the guy said that nobody comes out of the documentary in a good light, not even Collins family

probably the only guy that comes out looking good is the ref, who you can see feels completley let down by the whole situation.

yeh thats exactly what im saying, Panama Lewis clearly has an emotional hold over Resto, which i imagine allot of world class trainers have over mediocre boxers they train.

will you also take back the comment about me hating anything from manchester LOL!

I thought the Collins family were going to be the victims in this but it didn't come across as that. Billy was never told he couldn't fight again the father was trying to milk the incident to land a pot fall of money.

I felt for Resto at times then he continued to with hold information which started to make me feel a bit cold towards him. Panama is what he is and when he told him he look after him and then when in bar is basically taking **** out Resto that said it all. I feel Eric deserves huge props for this film because it went further then i thought it would of and he delved into the family situation and also brought the gripping scenes between Panama and Resto.

In the end when Resto was being manipulated by Panama i began to see this was a man who was emotionally in bits and was easy to crack and Panama knew that.

There obviously is a problem between the Collins family and Billy Collins Jnr's Widow from what i got the drift of it didn't seem there's any loved lost there.

Rob's right the New York State Commission is to blame it's a disgrace the scenes of that night and we all know why they won't reopen the case....

Very sad story that was a great film and i could watch it over and over i felt it was that good.

The trainer did it, why would he go to the toilet to take a **** and take the gloves. Plus the documentary says he takes money for every interview he does. Did you see Billy's face during the fight, his face was a completely different colour.

Im also shocked the father of Billy Collins didn't win any court cases as the courts couldnt deal with the matter, how do you think that case would deal with todays court of law?

Even so mate, its you beef with Farnell that bothers me most. He's a top guy mate and working his arse off at the moment trying to better himself. Think he deserves a bit more respect :deal As do all the fighters/trainers that come on here to share their views and opinions :good

I've just watched it. Prior to watching it I, probably like everyone else, always loathed Resto. Seriously, I hated the guy. After watching that documentary I've changed my mind- he was a victim of Panama Lewis' lust for dirty money. A compelling and emotional watch; I very much recommend it:good.
