I like the obvious skills of MMA compared to boxing. While boxers are better with their hands, MMA brings in a lot of different weapons and strategy. I do appreciate that.

What i cant get past, what turns me off this form of 'sport', is defenceless fighters on the canvass getting elbowed, forearmed, punched on the floor while obviously unconscious and/or so distressed they cant fight back anyway. Its barbaric, its a disgrace, and the people who continue to allow it are nothing more than parasites.

'Fans' need to say something about this disgrace. Its filtering into the community where people continue to bash obviously unconscious people, in some instances to death. It happens so often now in the street it is considered 'normal' to continue to assault people who are unconscious. Yes, MMA has to carry most of the blame.

And yet boxing has deaths and serious injuries every year while the UFC hasnt had a single death or serious injury in its near 30 year existence.

That alone kills the argument. Dont like it? dont watch.

Lol @ MMA being responsible for unconscious people being hit on the ground in street fights too. Yeah, that never happened before MMA......

It's not the martial arts that are responsible for the savages on the street. As TML87 wrote - boxing has more deaths, its nature is actually more dangerous even being limited to punching only. Add the duration of a fight to that.

Beating a grounded opponent is part of the rules, however they're clear in what you can and can't do while the opponent is conscious. Then comes the referee and if the latter reacts poorly on a situation, he must be held responsible for that. Yes, one can say that the winning fighter should also stop if he sees his opponent is out, but we can hardly judge them for their actions being on adrenaline. Sometimes there're fighters who reacts before the referee.

I can’t say this is defenseless but the death ratio while boxing has increased day by day. People learn MMA and boxing for their self-defense. Boxing is like hand-to-hand practice but MMA has different strategies. If you are defenseless then what kind of fighter are you? Do practice defending yourself first then learn different strategies.

MMA has come a long way since its inception in terms of safety. It's been over twenty years since kicking or kneeing a downed opponent has been permitted, so it's difficult to see a connection between head-stomping a downed opponent and the influence of mixed martial arts.
What's just as dangerous as head stomping, though, is the cowardly tendency to attack in packs to gain an unfair advantage over a victim.

That's just UFC rules. In normal MMA kicks and knees to downed opponents are perfectly OK

And they are no more or less dangerous than any other strikes

In American MMA, kicking or kneeing a downed opponent is forbidden. The two largest global organizations, UFC & Bellator, account for 90% of American viewership. Asian and Russian MMA promotions do allow kicking a downed opponent, but their American broadcasts attract a smaller audience and are typically limited to Youtube and occasionally shown on Fox sports.

This is not something that we blame for martial arts. I agree Boxing helps you more while defense yourself because of hand practise and assault is completely prohibited which raise in streets
