    Round 1

Vishniakov walks Ashurov onto a long left jab, moving clockwise and slapping down the stubbier southpaw jab of the Uzbek. Vishniakov is shooting his jab into Ashurov's palm, holding that right glove in check and preventing him from getting any right jabs off. Vishniakov crowds in but skitters away from Ashurov when the latter bursts off the ropes with a high straight flurry. A couple of left hands thunk solidly into Vishniakov's guard and back him up forcefully, but don't penetrate. Ashurov waves out a backhanded jab-feint while creeping to his left, searching for angles on Vishniakov. Body jab by Ashurov. Vishniakov tosses a few light jabs into the guard and then plants a right on decline into the belt line.

    10-9 Vishniakov, close

    Round 2

Vishniakov is caught by a quick line drive left planked up from Ashurov's chest to his chin, that knocks him onto wobbly heels for a moment. Vishniakov is standing upright, pawing out with the left jab as he tracks around from a safe distance. Ashurov plugs some lefts into the belly and then brings them up to headhunt, and Vishniakov clinches. Ashurov is hustling in close, slipping jabs, tapping Vishniakov's body with a right hook and then giving him a guiding-hand nudge in a clockwise direction while jumping around him to disorient him and repopulate himself on the other side after navigating around his back and popping in a few more shots until Vishniakov whirls to face up and clinches. Vishniakov with a right on the body. Ashurov pecking with lefts high and low in between clinches.

    10-9 Ashurov

    19-19

    Round 3

Vishniakov is doing some good work dancing around, feeding Ashurov jabs from medium-long range. Ashurov is attacking in spurts with frenetic straight combos, shoring up most of his energy for ramrod left crosses to punctuate them. He shoves Vishniakov onto the canvas at one point with a Heisman trophy stiff-arm. Vishniakov gets backed into the ropes and skewered on the body with lefts repeatedly, forced to hold. Ashurov backs Vishniakov into the opposite set of ropes after the break, peppering the guard with right jabs and then axing high with the left, making partial contact on Vishniakov's forehead.

    10-9 Ashurov, close

    29-28 Ashurov

    Round 4

Vishniakov is spearing lead rights into the nose of Ashurov, then falling atop him and tying up. Double jabs now from Vishniakov, the Ukrainian never letting Ashurov build up steam, making sure to pounce on him and smother with his upper body to prevent Ashurov's chopping overhands from doing any damage, positioning his own head directly over Ashurov's to make the angle of attack impossible. LOTS of clinching in this round. Breaks ordered by the ref frequently, but honestly not as frequently as they probably ought to be. Ashurov missing with flurries as Vishniakov spirals in and ties up over and over.

    10-9 Vishniakov

    38-38

    Round 5

Ashurov has made a small adjustment, skipping to his right in a lateral strafe and then ambushing Vishniakov with straight piston 4- and 5-pieces before getting inevitably grabbed and swallowed up in Vishniakov's long arms. It doesn't increase his scoring margins by that much, but he is at least connecting now. Vishniakov is turning sidelong and extending a long jab while stretching his right arm back like a bowstring, then getting slipped and countered with taps on the body with Ashurov burrowing in close, head tucked down.

    10-9 Ashurov, close

    48-47 Ashurov

    Round 6

Vishniakov is starting to get walked down in spots, but is able to propel himself outside, jog in place to reset & get the blood flowing, and then slice up Ashurov's face with consecutive jabs thrown up off his lead hip in multiples. A couple of hard 1-2s from Vishniakov thudding into the guard and slamming Ashurov's own arms into his face and chest roughly. Ashurov keeps the pressure on, cranking out right jabs to calibrate his aim before sending in a heavy overhand left. Vishniakov down, ruled a slip, could IMO easily have been a KD awarded to Ashurov...

    10-9 Ashurov

    58-56 Ashurov

    Round 7

Vishniakov is jerking himself around by the ropes from the waist up, slipping Ashurov's climbing right jabs, and then gets stuck in a headlock as his skull ends up down by Ashurov's ribcage and gets clamped down upon. Vishniakov is dancing around throwing pot shot jabs and long harpooning rights off the rear hip while zigzagging on the outside looking for chances to jump in and smother. Ashurov ducks a right uppercut and folds his arms over his chest while bowing in. They clinch and time out is called to replace Ashurov's gum shield. Time in. They exchange jabs, neutralizing each other as their fists collide in midair. Vishniakov tying up constantly. Ref warns Ashurov for a low blow. Ashurov ducks a 1-2, and shoves Vishniakov back several paces with his left glove against his abdomen. Hard right jab by Ashurov, then a 1-2 as Vishniakov shells up.

    10-9 Ashurov

    68-65 Ashurov

    Round 8

Vishniakov is flicking out backhanded jabs into the midsection while circling wide and then abruptly falling in with right hands, most of them missing, some just skimming above the sideburns of Ashurov. Lots of clinching. Ashurov desperately winding up and nearly coming off his feet as he tries belting Vishniakov with flying left hand leads. Vishniakov plants his feet and times him with a counter 1-2 and the right cross lands square between Ashurov's eyes. He loses balance and goes down, but ruled a slip (makes them even, I guess). Vishniakov closes out the round on his bike, jabbing into the brow of Ashurov, then clinching when he gets close.

    10-9 Vishniakov

    77-75 Ashurov

Never mind, they showed a slow-mo replay angle - Vishniakov's was definitely not a knockdown. The right hand didn't even touch Ashurov. They clashed heads, and that made him go down.

@SladeW - yeah, I agree, bad decision. The one Ukrainian judge (Dyachuk) actually had a decent card; I can see having it 76-75 for Vishniakov...but not those knuckleheads that had it wide. :shakehead:
