Round 7: Lopez 10-9, swing.

Hardest to score since the 2nd, but I thought Lopez nicked it based on his boxing skills and landing short, sharp shots in bursts which kept Salido off him and prevented him from taking too much damage. Really impressed with how well he kept his composure.

 

Round 8: Salido TKO.

Siri rocking him with an overhand and pursuing his advantage, throwing punches in bunches before the referee stepped in and waved it off.

Round 1: Salido 10-9, close.

Salido walking Cruz down, landing plenty of looping shots and edging Cruz to the ropes with every punch. Siri throwing bare shots but not really landing much. Cruz starting to box a bit more conservatively and it worked as he started keeping safer.

 

Round 2: Salido 10-9, close.

Another fun round, Cruz more aggressive. Neither giving an inch, which favoured Salido's bravado. Salido throwing more here, and landing better too. Cruz started playing the role of the aggressor more, but Salido liked to spin him and take the fight to him on the ropes.

 

Round 3: Cruz 10-9, close.

Best round so far. Both men swarming eachother, Cruz working at a higher pace.

Round 4: Salido 10-9, clear.

Salido's cagey head-movement let him counter Cruz silly. Awesome to watch, fun round.

 

Imagine Salido vs Danny Lopez, Bobby Chacón or Jorge Paez... the wars!!!

 

Round 5: Cruz 10-9, close.

Cruz fighting back now, but more conservatively; not giving Saldio countering opportunities. Clear case of less is more. Salido coming on late with a faster rush and a high workrate, but Cruz' early lead took it imo.

Round 6: Salido 10-9, close.

Real close round, but the excitement happened on Salido's terms. He was countering and leading, and throwing at a higher volume again. He also lead with his jab, which gave Cruz issues.

After 6, I had it 58-56 to Salido. Awesome fight, so far. Shaping up like an Ortega/Paret.

 

Cruz needs a clean sweep now for a 116-112 card imo

 

Round 7: Cruz 10-9, close

Another closely fought round, but Cruz landed the eye catching shots. Salido walked onto too much.

Round 8: Salido 10-9, close.

Cruz not too successful, he was stunned and stumbled a little and was repeatedly tagged with hard shots to the body and upstairs. He came on a little late but was ultimately out-worked and fell victim to Salido's superior tactics. Be it being out-jabbed or falling prey to his bob, weave, counter scheme. Awesome final minute.

 

Round 9: Salido 10-9, clear.

Very easy to score. Salido applying educated pressure and using his wider skillset to make Cruz look beneath him. His head-movement and jab let him attack without being hit. Good stuff.

 

Round 10: Salido 10-9, close.

More sloppy action, Salido simply out-working Cruz. Cruz defending well behind a high-guard, but letting Siri go to the body

Round 11: Cruz 10-9, close.
Round 12: Cruz 10-9, close.
