As the title says, let's assume that Nonito wins later.

Now rank the top five wins of his career in order of merit.

Donaire has fought the following notables :

    Vasquez

    Navarez

    Rigondeaux

    Vic Darchinyan

    Arce

    Nishioka

    Mathebula

    Marquez

    Montiel

    One to Five please.

    3. Darchinyan

    Rest

Lets not assume anything, I think Guillermo wins tonight.

I feel bad for Donaire because this is an opponent who has had no fights at the level between his previous quality of competition and the top, being Donaire. If Donaire sparks him out early, it will be hard to say whether he beat a very capable #2 in the division or a bottom of the top 10 guy who wasn't ready. There was no pit stop to fight a Mijares or Terrazas or Montiel or Darchinyan.

  5. no. just no. rigondeaux is a veteran. he has more experience than donaire and will be the ring general. if he had a better chin, donaire wouldnt stand a chance. hell, if they were the same size he wouldnt stand a chance.

Nishioka getting short changed here. He was a crafty veteran that Nonito had to out think and made him look ordinary. Donaire knew he simply had to be at his best to win the fight so people underestimate by miles what went on during the course of that fight. I look for more of the same tonight with the fight 'probably' going the distance and being 'dull' from the action stand point. Nonito wins because he comes forward and makes what action occurs with Rigo trying his counter punching all night.

A veteran in the amateurs, it's a different game. Rigondeaux isn't completely out of his depth but he hasn't proven himself against the best contenders in the division. You can't say Rigo would outbox Donaire if he had a better chin because he hasn't fought opponents on the level Donaire has. It looks good to move your upper body and move swiftly in and out and land sharp punches when you're facing sub-elite competition, but it doesn't always translate as you move up the ranks. Your assessment of his skills against someone as proven as Donaire is speculation.

I feel bad for Montiel... He got caught cold by Donaire.
Anyway, Montiel is defo his best win followed by Darch.

Got one wrong, no excuses, it does happen :desk

Envisioned Donaire hitting too hard for Rigo to take, especially given the funny dances the Cuban was made to do on the Chavez vs Martinez undercard by the very under rated Marroquin. (Who I'd have as Donaire's comeback opponent)

Very impressed by Rigo, who does things I haven't seen before.
