Obviously not an ideal combination, but was wondering, provided the asthma is not acute / chronic, can a mild asthmatic be licensed to box?

In the US at least they don't even ask. If you are asthmatic you just let the doctor know before the bouts during your physical and give him your inhaler.

SHANNON BRIGGS: Honestly I feel like, in my own mind, I am probably one of the baddest mother****ers out there. I mean, how many people die a year from asthma? Ten million people worldwide. I was born with asthma. A lot of my education was cut short because I spent a lot of time in the hospital with asthma. And to me, overcoming it is a freak of nature. I mean, I have my difficulty, but for me, having asthma, it's an incredible motivation. I mean, take the average man off the streets and tell him to hold his breath for three or four minutes, and it's like drowning. You can go without food for one or two or three or four days, but you can't go without oxygen for five minutes. People knock me for it, but I feel like an inspiration. I hear it. "Briggs sucks. He has asthma. He's wheezin'. He can't breathe good." But you know to me, that makes me say to myself, I'm gonna keep trying. I mean people give up every day with nothing to hang it on, you know? I take it all, all the inhaled steroids [for the lungs], Cingulair, Advair, you name it and I'm on it, and I fight with it. And it's difficult. But I proved everyone wrong from day one. Look at me. Two-time heavyweight champion, off for a third. I mean, look at Lyakhovich. He's fighting for the WBA #1 contender. He hasn't fought since I knocked him out, since I put him on a table, outside the ring. I put him there. How is he fighting Valuev and not me? Poli-tricks, man, it's all poli-tricks. And you know what, that's okay. They can say what they want about me. I fight against all odds. I fight against the system. I may someday be 48 wins and 48 losses, and still every time Shannon Briggs steps in the ring I'm trying to destroy something. Shannon knocks them out. Ibragimov couldn't knock me out. And I still hurt him in the first.

My trainer shocked me when she told me she has asthma. But she does breathing exercises to help her out

Yes mate that would be good, nice1.

Btw just watched 300 last night, liked it, main guy (Leonardis?) proper looks the part, ultimate badass. Don't remember seeing him in anything before, but maybe the beard just hid him well, good actor, great role.

    Cool avatar :good
