At 147, how would Mayweather match-up with Robinson?

I think he's competitive. Probably not victorious but he has the ring craft and reflexes to have moments in the fight. Alot of people look through rose tinted glasses, but the fact is that both of these are cut from that elite cloth.

As a side note, I've always thought Mayweather matches up better with Robinson than he does with Leonard.

Bigger stronger possibly quicker, SRR would hurt him badly on the way to a comfortable UD or get the KO.

Hearns vs Mayweather@147 now that's a fight that Hearns wins 9/10 IMO.

Why's that, S? Is it because you think SRL was better defensively?

I agree, Hearns is all wrong for Floyd.

I'm not sure on that one, both Robinson and Leonard are before my time so I only have limited observations.

I see Robinson more willing to play chess with Mayweather than Leonard. The biggest thing RayL would have over Floyd in a hypothetical match up is fast, well co-ordinated yet intelligent, ferocity, the type of which Mayweather hasn't had to deal with.

Just to add, it's moronic for some posters to assume that because Floyd hasn't beat anyone of the Sugars' calibure, that he would be incapable if given the chance.

JG, of the three Boxers; what order would you rank them in terms of Ring IQ?

John, you probably know best since you actually saw a prime ray robinson fight unlike all of us.
From what I have seen I would say floyd would definitely compete, especially if he doesnt get ko'd but I respectfully go with srr to win it.

I'd make Floyd and SRL brilliant tacticians with great tools. Behind a mega-watt smile 'n soft voice, SRR was a flat-out STONE KILLER, with dynamite in both fists.

It's an intresting debate, I assume Robinson is to your Generation what Mayweather is to mine.

I can't really comment, haven't watched Robinson's fights.. was there anyone at all like Floyd that he faced in his career?

Absolutely! S. But the cache SRR brought with him was the sense of drama 'n the anticipation of a lightening strike to end a fight

SRR wasn't peerless like Floyd. He'd trade 'n get hit, but his payback was a *****!

I think the same. I think both beat Mayweather but Robinson will have the harder time.
